Job Description

COVID-19 Community Testing Operative

Are you looking for a rewarding contract where you will be able to use your skills to make more of a difference than ever before?

We are looking to recruit Operators for COVID-19 Community Testing Centres.

You will carry out several different roles within the centre which will include the below responsibilities:

  • ensure that the testing process is seamless and that the test subjects experience is pleasant and managed in a professional way, reporting into the centres testing supervisor anything that may impact this
  • participate in new site activation to ensure site is ready for the pilot day and then ensure that the site ready for operation at the beginning of each day
  • undertake training and then provide guidance to the test subjects on how to self-deliver the throat and nasal swab test, ensuring they understand the process and providing them with support and reassurance throughout the testing process, always observing social distancing and site protocols

·       ensure that the completed tests are processed within the DHSC guidelines whether results are processed and recorded on site or the tests are packaged up ready to be sent to laboratories for processing

  • liaise with site leadership team to ensure sufficient PPE and supplies are ordered
  • dispose of bio-hazard containers appropriately
  • undertake all mandatory training including personal hygiene ensuring personal hygiene is maintained to a high level and adhere to the latest DHSC guidelines
  • undertake training on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and ensure PPE is worn and changed in line with site protocols and latest DHSC guidelines
  • be vigilant always when on site and highlight any concerns immediately to the site leadership team
  • act in accordance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements, unless derogation has been explicitly given
  • perform all the following services in line with Good Industry Practice, unless specific service standards are prescribed
  • escalate immediately if it becomes apparent that the site is not or is likely to become non-compliant with any law relating to the environment and sustainability or health and safety and take all reasonable steps to become compliant. This excludes regulations that have been explicitly referred to in derogation.

We are looking for candidates who are:

•               Happy to work at a COVID-19 Testing Centre

•               Have good written and verbal communication skills

•               Have and be able to demonstrate excellent customer facing skills

•               Experience of working with members of the public

•               Flexible and positive attitude

•               Team player

•               Immediately available 

 

A basic Criminal Record Check will be carried out on successful candidates and you need to be aware that you would be subject to drug & alcohol testing.

 

All successful candidates must successfully complete the approved DHSC Lateral Flow Testing e-learning module prior to commencing on site.

 

YOU can play a crucial role in maximising our capacity as a country to fight this outbreak both on a national and local level.

 

Testing centres will be open 24/7, so you will need to be flexible and able to work on a rota basis on various shifts including days and nights.

In addition, applicants must consider the following: 

  • Full Personal Protective Equipment will be supplied in line with NHS standards.
  • Ability to physically stand for several hours
  • Willingness to work outside (weather protection will be provided)

  • Hours of work to cover a working pattern over 7 days a week with rest breaks. 
  • Staff facilities including refreshments provided.
  • First Aid Support and facilities onsite
