Job Description

Missouri Southern State University English and Philosophy-Secondary English Education The Missouri Southern State University Department of English and Philosophy invites applications for an Assistant Professor with a specialization in Secondary English Education, appointment to begin August 1, 2019 in Joplin, Missouri. The English Department is committed to providing strong training for future teachers and to supporting their development in the areas of content knowledge, pedagogy, and global education issues. The successful candidate will teach such undergraduate courses as Young Adult literature, Teaching Writing in the Middle and Secondary Schools, and Teaching Methods in Secondary English Education. The candidate may also travel to site locations to observe student teachers, establish positive working relationships with area schools, and collaborate in the planning and development of training materials and courses related to the education program as well as to the student teaching experience. Qualifications

The successful candidate must have grades 9-12 English certification, as well as evidence of quality postsecondary teaching. The candidate must also demonstrate knowledge of current research literature and pedagogical theories relating to education, as well as experience working with student teachers.
