Job Description

A Field Service Technician performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repair of UPS, LV & MV power systems at client sites throughout the US. This role requires 70% travel and operates with a high degree of independence. The ideal candidate combines strong UPS & electrical systems experience with excellent customer communication skills and a commitment to safety. You'll serve as the on-site technical expert, building client relationships while keeping critical power equipment running reliably.  

Location: Our location preferences are Oklahoma City, North Carolina, Georgia, West Texas region, Southern Oregon, (or fully remote with travel 70-80%)

Accountability 

  • Leads jobs and manages field activities 
  • Perform installation, calibration, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs on UPS and MV/LV Power distribution equipment 
  • Troubleshoot and repair breakers, shutdown switches, wiring harnesses, alternators, UPS, battery systems, and control panels, and control wiring
  • Conduct root cause analysis on complex electrical failures 
  • Work with Modular Enclosures and Power Skid systems and perform field surveys 
  • Serve as the on-site technical expert answering questions, educating clients on maintenance best practices, and building long-term relationships 
  • Communicate clearly with customers about issues, solutions, and timelines
  • Review electrical plans and designs to confirm technical accuracy and identify any potential discrepancies or risks to the project.
  • Supervise onsite startup and/or commissioning of company supplied equipment.
  • Plan, conduct and document onsite Integrated Systems Testing (IST) for company supplied equipment.
  • Ensure all installations meet applicable standards.
  • Assist Logistics with timing of all equipment testing
  • Partner with Engineering, Production, and Sales teams on service estimates and parts recommendations 
  • Mentor junior technicians as you develop leadership skills 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Provide emergency support when critical systems go down (rotating on-call schedule) 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Experience 

  • 4+ years working with UPS, generators, governors, regulators, MV/LV switchgear, or similar power equipment 
  • Industry Background: Datacenters, power generation, utilities, oil & gas, marine, or energy sectors 
  • UPS & Power Distribution equipment
  • Tools: Proficient with multimeters, hand tools, wiring equipment, and soldering 
  • Software: Comfortable with Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting 
  • Driver's License: Valid license with clean driving record (required for travel), 
  • Strong customer interaction and reporting skills 

Preferred  

  • Technical diploma in Industrial Electrical, Maintenance, or related field 
  • UPS experience (Delta Electronics, Schneider Electric, Eaton, Vertiv or similar)
  • Electrical Distribution experience (Schneider Electric, Eaton, ABB, or similar)

Education 

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands  

  • FLSA non-exempt position is paid on an hourly basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks over forty (40) hours (including weekends or holidays)   
  • This role will be in a production setting and/or construction project site.  
  • Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant and/or construction project site including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.  
  • Manual Dexterity: use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.  
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards. 
  • Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant and/or construction project site safely and communicate effectively with team members.
