Job Description

The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will lead and direct the development of compliance strategies across Mirabaud Wealth Management (WM) business line in Switzerland. He/she will develop compliance policy and lead the assessment, monitoring and reporting of compliance risks, investigating incidents in compliance related matters and taking appropriate action to ensure Mirabaud Cie & SA, the Audit Committee and the Board of Mirabaud & Cie SA with a suitable and proactive second line of defense for compliance. Special attention is required for Financial Crime and integrity risks, core compliance matters and conduct.

The CCO plays a leading role in the governance of the bank and establishing control frameworks. He/she is responsible for company’s compliance with FINMA and applicable regulations. He manages the Compliance department with the Compliance team and the Central file team. He/she supports Group Compliance for the group consolidated Supervision.

  • Involvement in designing compliance plans, guiding and educating the management and staff on compliance matters, updating knowledge on recent regulatory changes, and responding in case of Swiss government investigations;
  • Carrying out several important daily tasks such as identifying hidden risks that the Bank may face and coming up with effective suggestions or recommendations to handle them;
  • Create and oversee control systems in order to deal with or prevent violations of legal guidelines and internal policies, evaluate the efficiency of controls and continuously improve them, and revise procedures, reports, etc. on a periodic basis in order to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues;
  • Conduct or direct internal investigations of compliance issues;
  • Conduct and oversee internal reviews or audits periodically to ensure that compliance procedures are followed;
  • Resolve all assigned audit points (internal/external audits, prudential/regulatory audit mandated by FINMA) within the prescribed timeframe to ensure their timely closure; 
  • Work cooperatively with internal and external auditors when needed;
  • Leadership, management and development of the Swiss Compliance and Central File teams;
  • Support Group Compliance for the group consolidated supervision (availability of Swiss Compliance Team resource, reporting, etc.) according to the Group Compliance Regulations;
  • To Chair and/or participate in the various formal committees for example (Executive Committee, Risk Committee, CESR-account opening/review committee);
  • Ensure and verify that Swiss and Group regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated;
  • Provide appropriate compliance reports according to FINMA circulars 17/01 on governance and the Bank’s compliance regulation.

Qualifications

  • Completed university studies, preferably with a focus on Swiss law or a comparable education in the field of banking and/or legal/compliance;
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in a function in audit, compliance, legal or in connection with internal investigations or at least 5 years in a similar position with managerial functions;
  • Excellent knowledge in the financial services industry / banking environment;
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written French and English. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage;
  • Solution- and service-oriented personality with proven leadership experience and well organized;
  • Strong analytical skills, pragmatic and able to work independently.
