Job Description

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. Avani+ Fares Maldives team members always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their Team Members. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Dealing honestly and fairly with clients, customers, suppliers and financial partners. The long-term success of the Company depends upon establishing mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Obtaining appropriate legal counsel regarding the business practices of the hotel and maintaining an awareness of local laws, rules and regulations.
  • Providing safekeeping, including proper storage and access for all contracts, leases and other financial records
  • Monitor the invoice and collection process for business units under management by Minor International.
  • Recruitment and evaluation of the Accounting Department’s staff, motivating and improving the employee’s attitude, discipline, sense of belonging, sense of responsibility and knowledge to maximize productivity and reduce staff turnover and to ensure that all sections of Accounting Department’s staff are functioning properly and efficiently including holding monthly communication meetings.
  • Taking responsibility for the professional development of all Finance staff. This includes identifying training needs and supporting the release of staff to attend training.
  • Taking Responsibility for month-end closing.
  • Preparing monthly account reconciliations and taking actions accordingly.
  • Preparing monthly invoices for other Minor Hotels, General Manager, Store and Shop rentals.
  • Preparing all journal vouchers for month-end closing.
  • Preparing monthly financial statements for distribution to Department Heads and Executives.
  • Verifying various city ledger transactions before posting.
  • Verifying payment requests, travel expenses, employee advances and petty cash prior to payment.
  • Providing input to budget preparation and input, forecast reports and monthly reporting to corporate office.
  • Controlling Officer checks allowance and providing OC & Entertainment Report.
  • Surprise check inventory and house fund.
  • Performing related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • 10 years of financial systems and data management
  • Experience with Project Management
  • Data analytics experience
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and processes, including ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and master data management tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify underlying trends and patterns.
