Job Description

Minor Hotels Africa is seeking a highly strategic and commercially driven International Sales Manager to accelerate high-value international revenue across our luxury safari lodges, resorts, and premium hotel portfolio.

This is an outward-facing role focused on expanding global luxury leisure and strategic market presence, developing high-performing trade partnerships, and positioning Minor Hotels Africa as a leading luxury destination brand in international markets.

The role will focus on key source markets including the USA, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, and emerging international markets, with extensive travel and in-market engagement required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

International Market Development (Primary Focus)

  • Develop and execute territory-specific sales strategies for the USA, UK, Europe, and designated emerging markets

  • Conduct structured international sales missions throughout the year

  • Represent Minor Hotels Africa at global trade events 

  • Identify, contract, and grow high-producing luxury travel designers, tour operators, wholesalers, and selected MICE partners

  • Establish new strategic accounts with clear revenue potential

Revenue Generation & Commercial Accountability

  • Achieve annual international revenue targets across assigned markets

  • Drive high-yield leisure business while protecting ADR and rate integrity

  • Monitor account production versus potential and adjust strategy accordingly

  • Collaborate closely with Revenue Management on pricing and market positioning

  • Identify and develop new distribution channels aligned to brand standards

Strategic Account Management

  • Manage a portfolio of priority international accounts using structured account plans

  • Conduct joint sales calls with regional and property teams where required

  • Negotiate commercial agreements within approved frameworks

  • Develop long-term partnership strategies for top-producing accounts

  • Maintain strong relationships with key DMCs feeding international markets

Brand Positioning & Market Intelligence

  • Position Minor Hotels Africa properties firmly within the luxury and premium segments

  • Provide structured market intelligence on competitors, trends, and customer behaviour

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of all Minor Hotels Africa properties, developments, and USPs

  • Monitor and report on competitor strategies across key markets

Trade Engagement & Representation

  • Organise and host educational roadshows, training sessions, and high-level client events

  • Coordinate and host FAM trips with defined ROI objectives

  • Represent Minor Hotels Africa with professionalism and brand consistency at all times

  • Maintain accurate CRM reporting and post-trip performance analysis

Internal Collaboration

  • Participate in Sales Strategy Meetings with African property teams

  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Revenue, Reservations, and Operations

  • Provide clear, actionable feedback to hotels on international market trends and opportunities

 

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, or a related field

  • 7–10 years’ experience in international hospitality sales or luxury travel sales

  • Proven success managing international territories (USA / UK / Europe preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to generate revenue through global travel trade partnerships

  • Strong understanding of luxury leisure, wholesale, and distribution channels

  • Experience representing brands at major international trade shows

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally 50–70% of the time
