Job Description

Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health, safety, and sustainability strategies in line with our brand's commitment to luxury, environmental responsibility, and Minor's core goals of Empowering People, Environmental Conservation, and becoming a Carbon Net Zero Organisation by 2050. Conduct regular risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures.

Compliance: Guided by the Green Growth 2050 global standard, collaborate with various departments to integrate sustainable and safe practices into daily operations to keep the hotel Audit Ready. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards. Develop and maintain health and safety policies and procedures.

Monitoring: Monitor environmental performance metrics, health and safety indicators, and produce regular reports on sustainability initiatives, safety performance, and their impacts. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure sustainable procurement and partnerships. Conduct regular training sessions for hotel team members on sustainability practices, health and safety protocols, and emergency procedures. Liaise with external agencies, such as local authorities and emergency services, to ensure effective coordination in case of incidents.

Innovation: Follow the latest trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability and occupational health and safety to ensure our hotel remains at the forefront of eco-luxury by implementing those that align with Minor's core policies. Develop innovative solutions to improve workplace safety and environmental performance.

Auditing: Conduct regular internal health, safety, and environmental audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Prepare for and facilitate external audits as required.

Emergency Preparedness: Develop, implement, and regularly review emergency response plans for various scenarios, including fire, natural disasters, and security threats. Organise and oversee regular emergency drills and exercises.

Wellbeing Initiatives: Promote a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing among all team members. Develop and implement wellbeing programmes that support both physical and mental health in the workplace.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Ecology, or a related field.
  • Passion for sustainability management, preferably with proven experience.
  • Knowledge of local ecology, flora, and fauna.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and educate diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools.
