Job Description

The Generator Mechanic is responsible for maintaining all power-generation equipment to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the resort. This includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency response and maintaining accurate records. The role requires strong technical skills with diesel generators, attention to safety and the ability to work in a remote island environment.

Generator Operation & Maintenance

  • Carry out preventive maintenance for all generator sets, including oil changes, filter replacements, coolant checks and lubrication.
  • Inspect engines, alternators, exhaust systems and fuel systems for wear, leaks, corrosion or unusual performance.
  • Run regular load tests and performance checks to ensure readiness.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in engines, alternators, control panels and wiring.

Power Reliability & Emergency Response

  • Respond quickly to generator failures, low-voltage issues or unexpected shutdowns.
  • Perform emergency repairs to restore power with minimal disruption to guests and operations.
  • Monitor generator performance during peak loads and special events.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all resort safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out, PPE use and safe handling of fuel and lubricants.
  • Maintain clean and safe generator rooms, ensuring compliance with resort and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure fuel storage, transfer and usage meet safety and environmental requirements.

Record-Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate logs of servicing, repairs, parts usage and generator running hours.
  • Report any major issues, risks or unusual findings to the Engineering Supervisor.
  • Track fuel consumption, oil levels, coolant levels and battery condition.

Coordination & Support

  • Work closely with engineering team members to schedule maintenance without affecting guest operations.
  • Assist in installation or commissioning new generator units or upgrades.
  • Coordinate with procurement/storekeeper for spare parts, tools, lubricants and filters.

Preventive Maintenance Programme

  • Follow the resort’s PPM schedule for power-generation equipment.
  • Identify recurring issues and propose solutions or upgrades.
  • Monitor corrosion and environmental wear common in marine conditions and take preventive action.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role (Minimum 2 Years) in a five-star resort
  • Fluent in English both written and verbal
