Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Banquet & Events Manager to join our team in Gaborone, Botswana. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of banquet and event operations, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and leading a dedicated team of professionals.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute a wide range of events, including weddings, corporate functions, and social gatherings
- Manage and motivate a team of banquet and event staff, ensuring high standards of service and professionalism
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal departments
- Create and manage event budgets, ensuring financial targets are met
- Collaborate with the culinary team to design innovative and appealing menu options
- Oversee the setup and breakdown of event spaces, ensuring all details meet client specifications
- Handle client inquiries, conduct site visits, and prepare detailed event proposals
- Implement and maintain health and safety standards in compliance with local regulations
- Analyze event feedback and implement improvements to enhance overall guest satisfaction
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate new ideas to elevate the event experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Management, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in banquet and event management, preferably in the hospitality or hotel industry
- Proven track record of successfully planning and executing large-scale events
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in event planning software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Solid understanding of budgeting and financial management
- Experience in menu planning and working with culinary teams
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of local and international cuisine, as well as cultural customs and etiquette
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the hospitality industry
- Certifications in event planning or hospitality management (preferred)
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
