Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Banquet & Events Manager to join our team in Gaborone, Botswana. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of banquet and event operations, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and leading a dedicated team of professionals.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a wide range of events, including weddings, corporate functions, and social gatherings
  • Manage and motivate a team of banquet and event staff, ensuring high standards of service and professionalism
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal departments
  • Create and manage event budgets, ensuring financial targets are met
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to design innovative and appealing menu options
  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of event spaces, ensuring all details meet client specifications
  • Handle client inquiries, conduct site visits, and prepare detailed event proposals
  • Implement and maintain health and safety standards in compliance with local regulations
  • Analyze event feedback and implement improvements to enhance overall guest satisfaction
  • Stay current with industry trends and incorporate new ideas to elevate the event experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Management, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in banquet and event management, preferably in the hospitality or hotel industry
  • Proven track record of successfully planning and executing large-scale events
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in event planning software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid understanding of budgeting and financial management
  • Experience in menu planning and working with culinary teams
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of local and international cuisine, as well as cultural customs and etiquette
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the hospitality industry
  • Certifications in event planning or hospitality management (preferred)
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
