Job Description

To support the needs of the business by working with the Hotel and Corporate teams to develop a detailed destination and hotel specific public relations and marketing strategy to drive positioning and promotion of Minor Hotels’ portfolio of properties in the Maldives and then lead the implementation of key elements of that strategy to deliver business results for the destination.

As a functional leader of our marketing and public relations efforts, the person in this position is responsible for ensuring a close and effective alignment of marketing and public relations activities with operational and leadership colleagues across the other functions of the hotel group and beyond.

Marketing

·       Conceptualize, develop and implement an integrated marketing strategy and promotional plan (per hotel) to drive awareness of the destination and deliver hotel revenues.

·       Develop and deliver strategic plans to solidify brand positioning and grow awareness for all hotels in the destination.

·       Lead work to further enhance relevant hotels’ DNAs and visual identities.

·       Provide strategic direction to the marketing communications and internal teams on the development and implementations of new strategies, concepts and differentiators to drive overall positioning.

·       Lead the team in integrating corporate interdisciplinary promotional campaigns alongside the other commercial team members.  

·       Develop and implement creative campaigns to support business objectives.

·       Lead internal and external teams including in-house creative services and agencies (if relevant) in the strategic development of omni-channel marketing campaigns, including promotional creative executions across customer touch points.

·       Conceive, develop, and implement the artistic vision in-line with the overall destination and brand strategy.

·       Management of the marketing communications and graphics teams.

·       Be responsible for the implementation, design and production of corporate campaigns, marketing collaterals etc. to meet business needs.

·       Work closely with other Commercial Operations areas to execute strategic plans across various channels.

·       Input into pre-opening hotel plans and budgets.

·       Oversee implementation of brand collateral materials as appropriate.

·       Develop individual hotel marketing plans.

·       Supervise and direct on property photo and video shoots to ensure they are in accordance with brand guidelines, and assist with the sign-off of final assets.

CRM

·       Develop, lead and ensure effective implementation of Minor’s CRM platform for the destination.

·       Develop objectives, strategies and key performance metrics to measure success.

·       Provide strategic direction on all elements of the CRM platform, including core marketing messages, stay-related communications, template design and execution of the promotional calendar.

·       Oversee customer segmentation strategies and govern the contact strategy across each group to ensure optimum customer experience is balanced alongside maximum revenue return.

Public Relations

·       Develop and execute annual and ongoing overarching PR strategy for pre-opening and open hotels.

·       Develop and manage annual PR budgets in conjunction with the hotels.

·       Ensure ongoing schedule of media releases and storytelling opportunities and pitch to media.

·       Develop press kits, other PR materials and promotional campaigns (awareness, teaser campaigns etc..) to build awareness for the hotels

·       Manage Maldives appointed PR agencies, including development of strategy and plan in each market and ongoing creation and distribution of press releases, content, organisation of press trips etc

·       Build and maintain relations with international media, including maintaining media lists, and proactively seek PR opportunities to promote Maldives properties within these media

·       Define and lead participation of Maldivian properties in global PR calendar of media events & media calls, as well as organise directly if appropriate per market, ensuring the properties are properly showcased

·       Organise and host international Group Media Trips, individual journalists, influencers and celebrities, working in partnership with local institutions, tourist offices, and airlines when possible.

·       Seek out opportunities for sponsorship, partnerships and cross-promotions for the benefit of the Maldivian properties and/or brands

·       Work with the property social media teams to develop strategy and ensure implementation.

·       Maintain accurate analysis and tracking for the PR campaign performance, business results and associated action planning.

·       Produce area PR activity and coverage reports.

·       Establish list of key awards and listings and ensure properties are entered/nominated/listed.

·       Use digital software (Synthesio or other) to maintain awareness of Share-of-Voice and develop strategies to maintain a competitive position versus hotels compsets.

·       Provide crisis communications in consultation with the corporate and property teams.

·       Conduct ongoing market research on relevant competitor hotel brands within the industry and keep property/corporate teams abreast of competitor activity across all markets.

·       Liaise with Global PR team to ensure strategic alignment across all properties.

General

·       Provide regular campaign analysis and reporting for all key marketing communication activities.

·       Be aware of changing trends within the industry and provide recommendations to react and / or counteract these changes.

Qualifications

·       Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Communications, Creative or equivalent is required. Masters Degree is a plus.

·       Minimum of 10 years in brand management and public relations or marketing positions.

·       Experience in hotel or luxury-related field would be an added benefit.

·       Experience with a creative agency is a plus.

·       Experience working with and leading online marketing activities and content via CRM systems and branded websites.
