Serves as Acting Director of Finance in the absence of the Director of Finance.

Reads and reviews checks and backup for accuracy before authorizing payment.

Reads and reviews journal entries for accuracy and completeness before authorizing posting.

Prepares complex journal entries.

Plans, organizes, supervises and evaluates professional and clerical personnel.

Answers staff questions concerning all areas of finance and accounting.

Compiles technical financial reports.

Responsible for maintenance of Finance department software including coordination of work with the Data Processing division and software vendors.

Prepares Requests for Proposal for Finance department and evaluates responses.

Responsible for compiling and updating the Department's Procedure manual.

Conducts specialized studies and surveys and reports results to senior management.

Responsible for making all debt service payments according to bond provisions.

Reviews, interprets, and applies governmental accounting principles and practices.

Reviews final financial statements, records and reports before submitting to Director of Finance for formal approval.
