Job Description

Strengthen internal control environment and foster good
corporate governance for the group
 

  • Assist HOD in setting a strategic direction and leadership in the areas of Internal Auditing and Risk Management throughout the MINOR group 
  • Assist HOD in encouraging and enforcing good corporate governance working culture within MINOR group 
  • Regularly engage key stakeholders (the audit committee, group CFO and business leaders) in updating progress of internal audit plan execution, key findings/emerging control issues and knowledge sharing across the group. This includes obtaining inputs from key stakeholders regarding area of concern, business performance and controls. 
  • Participate in quarterly audit committee meeting to provide internal controls update to the audit committee  
  • Assist HOD in communication with the chairman of the audit committee and/or independently discuss with the chairman of the audit committee in relation to internal control environment, emerging risk, work performed by internal audit function and any support required 
  • Provide advisory service to the business in relation to good internal controls, effective risk engagement and good corporate governance 
  • Perform any special audit, investigation as requested by the audit committee, senior group executives
     

Internal Audit Management

Be the focal point to:

  • Develop guideline and criteria to be used in establishing prioritized internal audit plan for the group 
  • Develop internal audit plan for the group, based on risk –based approach, and propose the plan to the audit committee for approval
  • Develop and update internal audit methodology for the group, and ensure compliance with the methodology and professional internal audit standards

  • Review and supervise the audit team to identify and improve internal control with communication to management

  • Ensure all internal audit activities are executed in alignment with the approved internal audit plan

  • Manage and supervise work performed by co-sourcing auditors (for overseas audits)

  • Coordinate Audit activities with those of the external auditors to ensure proper audit coverage, elimination of duplication of effort, and improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness
    of audit activities.

  • Ensure agreed internal audit actions are effectively implemented by the business as per agreed action and target date.

 

Risk Management

  • Be the focal point to:
     

  • Support the group and each business unit to put in place a robust risk management process that includes risk assessment, risk profile, risk mitigation plan and action, risk monitoring and evaluation process. 
  • Assist HOD in presenting risk profile and progress of risk mitigation and its effectiveness to the audit
         committee 
  • Monitor the progress of risk mitigation executed by the business in conjunction with the risk matrix 
  • Monitor emerging risks to the business and the group to be able to put in place mitigation action in a
         timely manner 
  • Align internal audit focus in response to the key risk profile

 

People Management

Be the focal point to:

  • Assist HOD in managing, recruiting, and developing a professional audit team of staff with sufficient
    knowledge, skills, experience, and professional certifications

  • Provide regular coaching and feedback for development of each team leaders

  • Foster open two ways communication within the team

  • Respect individual and inclusiveness of the team

  • Support staff for career plan and development

Qualifications

Qualification

  • Capability of identifying industry trends and the impact of emerging legislations, risks

  • Managerial courage to confront difficult issues with the appropriate response and communicate appropriately and in a timely manner with all stakeholders in those issue

  • Good command of English in both speaking and writing.

  • Able to travel both domestic and overseas.
     

Education:

  • Master Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting  (preferably from overseas)

  • Possession of  a professional audit certification (CIA/CPA/CISA) is preferred

 

Experience:

  • At least 10 year working experience at management level of multi-national company with comprehensive
    knowledge of Internal Auditing, Governance, Risks and Assurance

  • People and team management experience

  • Experience in working with senior management
