Job Description

As an intern you will have the opportunity to contribute to one of MindMaze’s key neuroscience R&D projects over a period ranging from 4 to 9 months. A semester project or a master thesis can be combined with a regular internship.

This project focuses on the development, integration and validation of training strategies based on modified visual feedback in embodied virtual reality to optimize effectiveness and learning of lost skills after stroke.

You will join our Neuroscience team, working closely with the Clinical Field Specialists and Engineering teams.

You will mainly focus on:

  • Reviewing relevant literature on modified visual feedback in the context of stroke rehabilitation
  • Adapting existing 3D interactive scenarios to integrate and test the different strategies
  • Integrating head-mounted display (HMD) capabilities (stereoscopic rendering, etc.) for providing first-person perspective avatar
  • Defining training strategies for different patient profiles through their recovery process
  • Participating in protocol definition, implementation and completion of studies with healthy and/or neurological patients
  • Analysing the collected data from the studies
  • Writing documentation and reports

Qualifications

Skills that we look out for are among

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Life Sciences or equivalent
  • Experience and interest in programming (Unity, Python) and mathematics (data analysis)
  • Experience with immersive virtual reality projects is a plus

Icing on the cake

  • Demonstrable interest for development focusing on the patient’s care and clinical interest
  • Previous experience in running experimental studies in psychophysics and/or virtual reality and/or haptics/robotics
  • Minimum B2 level of French and English
