Job Description
As a database engineer you will Manage flow of information across multiple medical-grade systems analyze business needs and create a database solution to meet them.
In particular, you will:
- Identify database requirements by interviewing customers; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems;
- Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during design, development and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions.
- Recommend solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications with appropriate monitoring tools.
- Install revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts; recommending optimum access techniques; coordinating installation requirements.
- Maintain database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.
- Prepare users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems.
- Staying up to date with the state of the art in the domain of database engineering to provide the best solutions to the technical challenges faced.
- Accurately estimating schedules and deliver high quality work products to that schedule.
Qualifications
- Knowledge in all aspects of cloud computing (infrastructure, storage, platforms and data).
- Experience with the current state of the art for SQL/NoSQL/NewSQL database models, networking, database synchronization, and cloud-based delivery models.
- Strong programming experience (3 years) in C/C++.
- A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Strong commitment to code quality, documentation, thorough testing procedures and knowledge of software engineering best practices.
- Fluent in English.
Icing on the cake:
- Understanding of information legislation, such as the data protection for European and American markets.
- Experience in following domains: data mining, distributed systems, or machine learning.
- Demonstrable interest for development outside the working environment (e.g. Personal projects, blogger, Open Source, papers, StackOverflow, Github, etc.).
- Experience with Medical device software (IEC 62304) is a plus
