Job Description

  • While obtaining your Master’s degree, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team that is developing cutting-edge technologies for adoptive immunotherapy with a strong focus on the development of novel gene delivery tools.
  • You will apply a broad range of methods from cellular and molecular biology, virology as well as immunology, including cultivation of primary cells, production of viral vectors and genetic modification of cells.
  • Following a thorough introduction and on-the-job training you will perform your experiments independently, but also in close collaboration with the team. By bringing in your own ideas, you will actively contribute to the development of immunogenicity assays for the analysis of cell and gene therapy products.
  • Sharing your results is fundamental within the team as well as other departments within the company. Therefore, you will continue to develop communication skills to present and discuss your results at internal meetings.

Qualifications

  • You are an enroled student and hold a B.Sc. degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or comparable with above-average grades.
  • During your studies, you acquired a solid foundation in immunology, as well as basic knowledge of virology and molecular biology.
  • You have first hands-on experiences with mammalian cell culture techniques, molecular biology techniques and flow cytometry. Experience in isolation, cultivation and characterization of primary immune cells is an advantage.
  • First experience with immunogenicity assays or immune‑based functional assays is beneficial.
  • You are willing to work with gene modified organisms under safety level S2.
  • You are interested in the development of immunogenicity assays and their application in the field of CAR-T cell therapy.
  • You are highly self-motivated with excellent problem solving skills and are willing to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary team. Excellent written and spoken English skills complete your profile.
  • Your workplace is in Bergisch Gladbach.
