Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Provides care typically to older adults according to the Client Care Plan. Assists client(s) with companionship, activities of daily living, light housekeeping, medication reminders, transportation, vital sign recording, exercise assistance, situational orientation and safety and security needs. Inform administration of changes in client’s status. No employee should perform a duty he/she has not been trained to do.
HOURS: Caregiver hours are flexible and set for each schedule. Changes can be made with proper notification and approval prior to the schedule being published.
TRAVEL: Required to travel within Dane County.
KEY JOB DUTIES:
· Meal Preparation & Feeding - prepares meals and assists with feeding according to client care plan.
· Hygiene - assists with oral hygiene, provides skin care as assigned, observes standard precautions.
· Bathing - bathes or assists client with bath, cleanses hair.
· Transfers - transfers client from bed to chair, chair to commode, chair to toilet, in and out of car etc.
· Toileting - assist client with bowel and bladder care including incontinence care; changes incontinence underwear when soiled. Empties Foley catheter. Empties urinal and commode as needed.
· Dressing - assists client with dressing
· Walking/Ambulation - assists client with walking/ambulation as suggested by supervisor, care plan and/or client/family member.
4. EXERCISE ASSISTANCE - Assists client with exercise as suggested by supervisor, care plan and/or client/family member.
5. MEDICATION REMINDERS - Reminds client to take his/her medications as instructed by supervisor, care plan and/or client/family member.
6. ORIENTATION - Orients client to situational activities and place. Communicates with client in order to maintain mental alertness, to encourage participation in activities of daily living, and to maintain safety.
7. PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION - Transports client according to supervisor and/or run errands pertinent to clients care, care plan and/or client/family member.
8. CHECK VITAL SIGNS - Check and record client’s vital signs as instructed by supervisor, care plan and/or client/family member. Observes and records changes in client’s overall condition and reports to supervisor.
9. COMMUNICATION – Must respond to communications from administrative staff in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle and a valid WI drivers license
- Must have Auto insurance
- Must have daily access to email
- Must pass a pre-employment background check
