Job Description

Senior Sales Engineer 

Role Overview
Serve as the key technical advisor in the sales cycle—designing and delivering tailored demos, shaping solutions, and guiding prospects from discovery through implementation readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and deliver tailored product demos and technical presentations to executives, business users, data teams, and IT.
  • Clearly communicate the value, differentiation, and architecture of Strategy’s platform versus competing analytics and data solutions.
  • Lead technical and business conversations with senior IT and business decision makers; confidently handle objections and challenging situations.
  • Coordinate pre‑ and post‑sales activities with Sales, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Professional Services to ensure smooth handoffs and successful implementations.
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering to relay customer feedback and influence the product roadmap.
  • Participate in Strategy’s annual conference and marketing events, representing Strategy as a subject‑matter expert.
  • Contribute best practices, competitive insights, and reusable assets to the Sales Engineering community.

Requirements

  • BS degree and 5+ years of related experience (presales, sales, consulting, marketing, or training).
  • Experience with Business Analytics/BI or relational databases a strong plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to translate technical concepts into business value for all audiences.
  • Proven ability to solve complex technical problems in complex customer environments.
  • Excellent organization and time management; experience leading project workstreams.
  • Successful completion of Strategy certification upon employment.
  • Candidates should be located on the East Coast, as the role requires travel to clients throughout the region.

Technical Skills (Data & Cloud)

  • Solid SQL and relational database knowledge.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, Azure Synapse).
  • Experience with ETL/ELT and data integration tools (e.g., dbt, Informatica, Talend, Fivetran, Matillion) or custom pipelines.
  • Understanding of data modeling (star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling) and data governance/security (RBAC, auditing, PII).
  • Nice‑to‑have: exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP, and designing architectures that combine analytics platforms with cloud data warehouses/lakes and enterprise systems; familiarity with APIs and integration patterns.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills for C‑level, business, and technical audiences.
  • Strategic and tactical problem solver with a consultative, customer‑centric mindset.
  • Comfortable owning outcomes in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
