Job Description

The Role:  The Product Marketing Senior Director is responsible for ensuring that we achieve specific sales and financial objectives by positioning and representing the company and its industry leading technology products with the market analysts community for BI & Analytics (including but not limited to Gartner, Forrester, Ventana, Constellation, BARC, and IDC).  This role will collaborate directly with Product Management, Marketing, and Sales leadership to understand and articulate the product roadmap, competitive differentiators, market-oriented outbound messaging, and customer success, and will be a key contributor to company strategy. 

Your Focus: 

  • Manage relationships with industry analysts for the purpose of positioning MicroStrategy in external reports such as the Gartner Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities, as well as externally commissioned research that supports the company’s go-to-market priorities for enterprise and embedded analytics  
  • Conduct competitive analysis in order to identify, understand, and articulate SWOT positioning against other players in the Analytics and BI Market, in support of Sales. 
  • Collaborate with Technology to develop the roadmap for the company’s solutions portfolio, and communicate a vison of where the market solutions will be in the future against the competition 
  • Effectively influence the development of solutions and solutions enhancements by working closely with Product Management and Technology teams 
  • Create compelling assets (e.g. written reports, presentations, live webinars) that integrate tangible proof points, differentiation and business value, enabling Sales to confidently articulate and position the solutions’ value proposition 
  • Work with Marketing Operations to align marketing metrics to analyst-related assets and manage an annual budget of expenses for externally commissioned research, event participation, and consultation with industry analysts. 
  • Track and align stakeholder acceptance and market solutions introduction effectiveness; implement contingency plans as needed.

You should also bring the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of engineering, business, or marketing; MBA preferred 
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in software technology; a significant portion of this experience should in sales engineering, product management, or product marketing 
  • Minimum 5 years experience and strong knowledge in the Business Intelligence software space 
  • Ability to think creatively and communicate ideas to drive continued excellence for the team 
  • Experience with cross-functional teams and working directly with technical teams 
  • Very strong operational and people leadership skills in a matrixed environment 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
