Job Description

MicroStrategy is looking for creative, talented individuals who are passionate about solving challenging problems while leading teams to release world-class software. As a MicroStrategy Scrum Mater, you will use your Agile Scrum team leadership experience, problem-solving skills and engineering quality mindset to coach and lead the scrum teams to achieve their goals and deliver work that is really DONE. You will lead the day-to-day operations and execution of the Scrum teams, working with the Group Scrum Master and APO (Area Product owner) closely. You will coach the teams to be self-organized and drive the continuous improvements in the team to provide customers with high performance and high availability products that exceed their quality standards.

 

Job Duties (include but not limited to):  

  • Overall accountable for the scrum team operation in one product area on the HOW part from Agile point of view.
  • Organize and facilitate Scrum ceremonies(iteration grooming/ planning / review/ retrospective, and daily standing meeting) and backlog refinement under minimal supervision.
  • Champion Agile software development best practices; coach scrum team on Agile processes/practices, quality mindset, discipline, and self-accountability.
  • Proactively remove roadblocks to allow the Iteration to progress.
  • Manage dependencies between the Scrum team and third parties, collaborating with other Scrum Masters on identification and resolution - especially with regard to items necessary for product release.
  • Have primary responsibilities to work with product owners, help product owners to define the requirements and user story clearly so the team can fully understand WHAT and WHY.
  • Guard the team, make sure team can focus on the committed items during iterations, and avoid interruptions from outside as much as possible.
  • Maintains relevant metrics to help the team monitor their performance.
  • Track and communicate team status and progress, via burn-up and burn-down charts as well as other information radiators, to the team, management, and stakeholders - ensuring it accurately reflects current state.
  • Drive the focus on continuous improvement within the team and coach the team towards being self-organized.
  • Work with Product Owners to coordinate timely response to support urgent customer needs and requirement changes.
  • Communicates project status to stakeholders - informing senior management of progress related to key deliverables, quality goals and objectives.
  • Monitor the risks for each iteration and release to manage their mitigation.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimal: Bachelor's degree.
  • 3+ year software development and/or Project Management experience in a professional environment using Agile methodologies.
  • Experience of scrum master or relevant agile leadership experience.
  • CSM/PMI-ACP certifications preferred.
  • Good quality mindset and quality assurance experience.
  • Experience using CA Agile central (formerly Rally) Software or other Agile software tools (Accept360, VersionOne, Jira), and collaboration tools such as Confluence preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, time-management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to independently determines approach to managing daily operations based on operational goals and objectives for area, leveraging Agile values.
  • Ability to network across multiple areas or externally to achieve project objectives.
  • Ability to makes decisions regarding processes & procedures affecting the work of the team/area that promote the Agile mindset.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision are a must.
  • Strong focus and drive for both self and team continuous improvement.
  • Able to resolve conflicts, facilitate discussions, propose viable alternatives to drive the team.
