Job Description

The Linux System Admin will support various Linux operating systems providing system administrative services to install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, operating systems and application software. A variety of Linux OS distributions are used the environment, including Red Hat Linux 6.x, OpenBSD, SELinux, Ubuntu, Fedora and CentOS. The candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to diagnose complex customer applications issues, provide quick and accurate solutions and take ownership of issues, from identification through resolution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Interacts with project owners and other test engineers
  • Evaluates and tests vendor products and engineering projects
  • Provides administration for multiple servers
  • Develops and maintains user, technical and system documentation as project deliverables
  • Performs IA compliance activities

Qualifications

  • Government clearance required
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 6 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career level
  • Must possess a minimum of 4 years of experience, monitoring and supporting LINUX servers
  • Security + Certification
  • Red Hat Certification
  • Ability to implement DoD mandated security configurations desired
  • Experience with other Operating Systems desired
  • Solid foundation in SAN technology a plus
  • Ability to implement/maintain enterprise level services, including Microsoft DNS, DHCP and Active 
  • Directory desired
  • Ability to create, edit and apply GPOs desired
  • Experience with DISA security checklists (STIG) and server applications required
  • Experience with Microsoft 2003, 2008R2 and 2012 Server OS is required, at a junior level
  • Experience with Puppet automation software and scripting abilities within Puppet are a plus
