Job Description

The Configuration Manager will provide in-depth knowledge of configuration management processes, including practical application within multiple environments. The Configuration Manager will be responsible for implementing appropriate business processes through the asset lifecycle within the program and will enforce configuration management standards. Successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks.

DUTIES

  • Analyzes voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices
  • Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments
  • Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements
  • Supports the acquisition of hardware, software and subcontractor services as needed
  • May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users
  • May perform network administration duties
  • Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel and may have supervisory responsibilities
  • May serve as technical team or task leader
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned and participates in special projects as required
  • Populates the CMDB
  • Ensures that pre-defined activities are aligned with the change management process
  • Ensures that the Configuration Management System (CMS) provides accurate and up-to-date information
  • Ensures that regular snapshots and configuration baselines are taken and protected
  • Triggers auditing processes on the CMDB
  • Implements a Communications Plan upon changes to the CMDB, using the RACI model
  • Ensures that backups are taken as appropriate
  • Collaborates with the Asset Management Team, on the use of a Definitive Media Library
  • Makes recommendations through Service Improvement Plans (SIPs)
  • Ensures that the Service Asset and Configuration Management process is performed as designed
  • Develops Service Asset and Configuration Management process models, for the role of Service Asset and Configuration Manager
  • Ensures that the Service Asset and Configuration Management processes are fit for purpose
  • Ensures that the process design meets objectives
  • Provides sponsorship, design, and continual improvement of the process and its metrics

Qualifications

  • Government clearance required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
  • 8-10 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design
  • Understanding of supply-chain, asset and configuration management concepts and processes
  • Experience in defining asset and configuration management systems and solutions within the Intelligence Community
  • Familiarity with a Federal property management environment, with a focus on the Intelligence Community
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes, IT Asset Management and Configuration Management database practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, familiarity with process analysis methodologies, ability to define, develop, communicate and implement improved processes
  • Familiarity with PMI Processes preferred
  • Familiarity with Institute for Supply Management Processes desired
  • Familiarity with Process Improvement Techniques desired
  • Experience with Supply Chain Operational Reference (SCOR) model desired
