Job Description

The Audiovisual Systems Technician position is part of a high touch, front line team that provides full life cycle support, on an enterprise level, for video conferencing and audio visual technology. The Audiovisual Systems Technician will be responsible for the integration and commissioning of systems in support of high-level conference meetings, using the latest technology. The successful candidate will perform first line physical, electrical, mechanical and network troubleshooting and analysis and ensure that faults are resolved or escalated in a timely manner, to ensure that they’re cleared within SLA targets.

DUTIES

  • Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
  • Performs systems development and design work, that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design and analog or digital systems engineering
  • Performs systems modeling, simulation and analysis
  • Participates in upgrading operating systems and designing system enhancements
  • Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems
  • Develops and conducts tests to ensure that systems meet documented user requirements
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves operating/hardware system problems
  • Provides system, equipment and specialized training and technical guidance
  • Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned and participates in special projects as required
  • Installs and maintains Audio Visual (AV) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC), ranging from simple (Desktop) to complex (Video Walls, Network Operation Centers) solutions
  • Troubleshoots and documents infrastructure changes that support AV and VTC systems, including CAD drawings
  • Manages AV integration projects through all stages of the construction process, from Schematic Design Review through Construction Implementation
  • Manages multiple simultaneous projects throughout the enterprise
  • Configures, tests and adjusts audio and video parameters and control system settings
  • Documents and records all details of the identification and resolution of any network faults on customer networks, using the help desk ticketing software
  • Takes responsibility and ownership of any identified or customer-reported faults with AV or VTC systems and monitors all actions taken to resolve the faults
  • Provides extensive troubleshooting, installation, configuration and testing of videoconferencing, audiovisual equipment (videoconferencing, multimedia, audiovisual, projection systems, displays, cameras, microphones, integrated A/V systems, document cameras, streaming technologies, etc.) and collaboration technologies
  • Addresses and troubleshoots customer issues received via email or phone, as well as through monitoring tools, for videoconferencing endpoints, infrastructure, integrated A/V systems and networks
  • Documents incidents, including opening cases, updating with current status and timely closure
  • Performs testing, configuring and troubleshooting of IP and ISDN networks, in support of videoconferencing and A/V equipment
  • Escalates, as appropriate, to internal and external resources

Qualifications

  • Government clearance required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
  • 2-5 years of related systems engineering experience
  • Candidate must be ITIL Foundation certified or capable of obtaining ITIL Foundation level certification
  • The following certifications preferred: CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I, CVE, NET+, CCNA, Crestron Programming (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced)
  • Requires 2-5 years of related experience in design, integration, support and troubleshooting of videoconferencing and audiovisual technologies
  • Extensive knowledge with demonstrated experience engineering, documenting and implementing designs for video conferencing, conference rooms, webcasting, and streaming video systems, using the latest technology
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment and producing quality work to demanding timescales
  • Strong knowledge with demonstrated experience, using VTC codecs, audio mixers, control systems, AV automation, wiring, amplifiers, microphones, projection systems, video cameras and other A/V peripheral equipment
  • Crestron Control systems programming knowledge
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting Cisco, Tandberg and Polycom products required
  • Experience with ISDN legacy equipment would be preferable
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Simple Windows, Vision Tools Pro, Photoshop and Acrobat Professional
