Job Description

The Cyber Security Engineer designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems and performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design and analog or digital systems engineering.

Senior-level HBSS/Security Systems Engineer expertise is required, to deploy and manage the HBSS architecture and to respond to malicious cyber activities as required. Standard work week with on-call support as required for high priority events.

DUTIES

  • Performs systems modeling, simulation and analysis
  • Reviews the completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients
  • Plans and directs upgrades of operating systems and designs system enhancements
  • Develops documentation on new or existing systems
  • Develops and directs tests, to ensure that systems meet documented user requirements
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves system problems
  • Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance
  • Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
  • Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibilities
  • Serves as a liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure that client needs are met
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned and participates in special projects as required
  • Maintains and administers HBSS operations for the campus-wide Enterprise computing systems
  • Installs the HBSS agent and modules to servers and end user machines (modules: ACCM, DLP, HIPS, MOVE, PA, RSD, VSE)
  • Responds to escalated support requests for technical assistance
  • Validates and coordinates HBSS scheduled maintenance
  • Creates custom queries to meet various informational demands
  • Maintains and administers campus-wide Enterprise computing systems, to meet DoD-mandated security requirements and directives
  • Creates custom firewall policies and works with the Cybersecurity and CERT teams to identify, configure and apply host-based IPS signatures, to protect against zero-day threats
  • Creates firewall and IPS exclusions, based on customer demand and the C&A approval process
  • Works with the Remedy trouble ticket system, to coordinate troubleshooting efforts with end users and their various issues
  • Troubleshoots VM and SQL issues, that conflict with the basic functionality of ePO
  • Understands system requirements and how they relate to HBSS Security
  • Understands the client's operational and sustainment methodologies and processes

Qualifications

  • Government clearance required
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
  • Must possess 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience
  • Successfully passed the DISA HBSS Administration course
  • Must possess 2+ years of McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator administration experience
  • Experience configuring and deploying McAfee HBSS Modules
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory and Unix/Linux system administration
  • Experience with MS SQL
  • Must be able to meet DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification requirements within 6 months
  • Experience in a high-pressure, 24x7 operations environment desired (SOC, etc.)
  • 5 years of experience in a mixed Windows and Linux environment desired
  • 2 years of experience with ArcSight and McAfee (Sidewinder, Web/Email Gateway, DLP, NTR) products desired
  • Experience with virtualization technologies a plus
  • Ability to present technical ideas and issues desired, using visualization tools such as Visio and PowerPoint
  • Technical written and verbal communication skills desired (technical writing)
  • Passing the DISA HBSS Advanced Course a plus
