Job Description

The Systems Engineer extensively manages ESXi server and vCenter operations in a fast paced, operationally diverse Agile-like Linux and Windows development and test lab. Candidate must be able to tune hypervisor hosts and use management consoles to run the virtual farm. The candidate will provide support with the daily operations and maintenance of the lab, supporting a Big Data platform and implement and support various Linux and Windows services.

The ideal candidate will also have a secondary area of expertise in either networking or storage. Both disciplines are heavily used in this lab. Storage capabilities include NFS, EMC VNX and HP EVA. Candidate must be able to attach and provision storage to for the virtual hosts. Additional this lab relies extensively on virtual Vyatta switches for routing among multiple internal networks. Candidate should have knowledge of routing and ACLs.

Qualifications

  • Government clearance required
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 7 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree. Considered an emerging authority
  • Must be experienced with virtualization technologies and have hands-on operations experience with the installation and configuration of ESXi 5/6
  • Must have knowledge of and hands-on experience in the management of storage, storage provisioning and storage configuration, including managing fiber connections
  • Must have extensive replications and cloning abilities
  • Experience setting up environments to mimic production environments, via replication or cloning, which includes the lifecycle areas of requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment and transition to operations
  • Extensive operating systems, applications and networking experience required, including installing, configuring, security hardening (DISA STIG) and troubleshooting servers
  • Security + and VMware VCP 6 certifications required
  • Experience with VMware 5/6 storage provisioning, networking and configuration required
  • Experience with physical or virtual network devices, such as NFS, VNX and EVA, desired
  • Experience with Red Hat or CentOS Linux is a plus
