Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Lead Electronics Technician who will act as a Shop Foreperson in our fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong electronic and mechanical assembly skills as well as a thorough understanding of production/manufacturing best practices. They will play a crucial role in coordinating the shop's daily operations, maintaining quality standards, and enhancing our production processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide support and guidance to the production technicians, ensuring they have the training and resources necessary to perform their duties effectively.
- Maintain and improve the production area layout, organization, and workflows
- Oversee the assembly processes, implementing best practices for efficiency and high quality results.
- Work closely with the Production Manager to develop, implement, and manage processes that improve production efficiency and product quality.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs on all equipment in the shop.
- Assist with inventory control, bench stock purchasing decisions, and tooling purchases.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Regularly communicate the status of the shop's operations and any issues or concerns to the Production Manager.
- Read and understand assembly drawings, bills of materials, and assembly instructions
- Build, repair, and test meteorological instrumentation systems and components
- Use hand tools to assemble electronics enclosures including cable assemblies, circuit boards, etc.
- Perform circuit board testing and re-work
- Other electronic/electrical and mechanical assembly work involved in the production and repair of meteorological measurement systems
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in an electromechanical production environment
- Basic electronics education or equivalent experience
- Able to read and comprehend assembly instructions, diagrams, and drawings
- Competent with hand tools and electronic assembly tools (screwdrivers, wire strippers, soldering irons, etc.)
- Able to pass thorough background check by US Department of Defense
- This position requires access to ITAR restricted information (must be a US Person).
Preferred qualifications:
- 1+ years experience in a lead role in a production environment
- AS in Electronics, Mechatronics, or equivalent
