Job Description

Mō te tūranga | About the role

We are recruiting three Platform Owner roles across our core infrastructure domains – End User, Data Centre Hosting and Cloud. Each role has a clear primary area of focus, while working closely with other platform owners and teams to collectively deliver secure, resilient and well‑performing services across Meridian.

These are key roles within our infrastructure function. The Platform Owner Role is to provide strong ownership and help shape how these platforms evolve over time. We’re therefore looking for people who bring solid experience, sound judgement, and a practical approach to delivering outcomes.

Each role is accountable for the strategy, governance, standards and lifecycle of its platform area, and ensuring that change is successfully delivered and embedded into ongoing operations.

While there is a clear primary focus, no single role is expected to be across everything, platform owners work collaboratively across domains, supported by specialist teams and delivery partners.

  1. End User Platform: You’ll own the platforms that support Meridian people day‑to‑day, covering identity and access, end‑user devices, Microsoft 365 services and endpoint security. You’ll balance user experience, security and lifecycle management, ensuring services are easy to use, well‑governed and operating smoothly.
  2. Data Centre Hosting Platform: You’ll take end‑to‑end ownership of on‑prem and hosted infrastructure platforms, including compute, storage, databases, backup and recovery. You’ll focus on availability, resilience and performance, guiding lifecycle decisions and supporting disaster recovery planning and testing.
  3. Cloud Platform: You’ll own Meridian’s cloud platforms, setting standards across governance, security, identity and cost management. You’ll ensure cloud services are safe, scalable and aligned to architectural direction, while enabling teams to deliver securely and efficiently.

Please indicate in your application which area you’re most interested in or where your experience best aligns.

These roles can be based in Wellington or Christchurch.

Qualifications

  • Experience owning infrastructure platforms end‑to‑end, with accountability for their performance, reliability and ongoing evolution over time.

  • Strong technical understanding in your primary domain (End User, Data Centre or Cloud), with the ability to define what good looks like, guide design and delivery decisions, and provide informed oversight

  • A focus on operational performance, including experience working with and managing third-party partners to ensure services are stable, well-supported, and meeting agreed service levels

  • Well‑developed analytical skills, with the ability to assess technical and operational information, identify risks and trade‑offs, and support sound, pragmatic outcomes

  • Experience delivering change, while maintaining strong day‑to‑day service performance and balancing short-term needs with longer-term platform direction

  • A clear understanding of security, resilience and service tiering, including involvement in disaster recovery and business continuity planning, testing, and continuous improvement

  • Familiarity with ITIL-aligned practices, including incident, problem and change management, and how these contribute to stable and well-managed services

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners
