The Regional Philanthropy Director will direct and expand the region's base of philanthropic support through research, proposal writing, submission of grant proposals and reports, and through other fundraising activities, which may include coordinating fundraising events to increase donor awareness. Team with regional leadership to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward support from various sources which may include corporations, foundations, workplace giving campaigns, government funding, and faith-based funders. Work collaboratively with Resident Services, Real Estate Development, and Finance staff on development of grant materials and stewardship of funds. Supervise appropriate Philanthropy staff.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Social Work, English, Journalism, or related field strongly preferred. CFRE certification preferred. 

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five (5) years in directing or senior level positions performing grant writing, major donor efforts, contract administration, special events, or related field.

 

ABILITIES:

1. Strong writing skills, clear internal and external communication, both verbally and written, and relate to a variety of individuals, groups, and key stakeholders.

2. Creativity, problem-solving skills, strong initiative, diplomacy and discretion.

3. Work independently and in a team environment. Build and support a team working toward shared goals and vision.

4. Advanced proficiency with MS Office applications and donor database software, i.e. Raiser's Edge preferred.

5. Accomplished organizational skills and close attention to detail. Work with a participative style of decision-making.

6. Promote a culture of philanthropy within the organization, engaging staff and board of directors.

7. Travel, as necessary.

8. Treat a variety of people with respect and compassion.

9. Represent Mercy Housing in a professional manner at all times.

10. Understand and support the mission and values of Mercy Housing.

  • Compensation: Salaried (DOE)
  • Required Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (With the exception of some meetings being scheduled outside the normal 8:00-5:00 schedule.)
