Job Description

 

Purpose of the Role
The Senior Learning Designer (SLD) is a key member of the Mentem Learning Experience Team. This hands-on role will bring our Learning Journeys to life while developing and maintaining processes that allow our business to scale.

The SLD is an experienced developer, designer, communicator, and collaborator. Through effective working relationships with the Mentem team and stakeholders you will design and build engaging and innovative online learning experiences that support successful learner outcomes based on identified client needs.

What you’ll do 
You’ll be at the centre of the learning design and development process, bringing design concepts to life into learning journeys on online platforms for our clients.  You will create online content to enrich learning journeys and build the journeys on the specified platform to ensure quality consistency and ability to access learner insights. You’ll lead the management of our platform and associated processes to balance quality user experiences with scalability

Who you’ll work with 
You’ll work collaboratively with the whole Mentem team. Your most frequent engagement will be with the Learning Experience and Tech Teams to build learning journeys on online platforms for client delivery that deliver excellent learning experiences and data insights. You’ll also work closely with the Product Owner and the Client Success Teams to ensure our learners have a seamless experience of what you develop.

You’ll need to be an outcome focused team player with the right attitude. You’ll have strong technical and design skills with equally good interpersonal skills and be able to prioritise competing demands in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

1)    Maintain a high-performance culture through leadership of projects and team members

  • Ensure the Mentem vision is reflected throughout all aspects of product design and development. This includes our need to balance a quality user experience with our ability to scale.
  • Demonstrate that your leadership aligns with the Mentem vision including all processes and staff management related to Mentem Learning Experiences, recruitment, onboarding and external contracting
  • Support the development of the Mentem reputation and brand through the promotion and communication of Mentem vision and achievements in all Learning Experience activities 

2. Build learning journeys (including digital assets) based on agreed client needs that support Mentem to scale

  •  In collaboration with SMEs and the design team develop content and online activities e.g. video, graphics, animations and interactive resources and assets aligned to client outcomes in required timeframe
  • Build learning journeys with the required authoring tool on the required platform, ensuring the program is configured to allow data ingestion to the Mentem Insights platform
  • Provide advice and support regarding online platform setup and processes to minimise risk and enhance efficiency and scale
  • Leverage existing resources to rebuild for scalable use across Mentem
  • Collaborate with/supervise vendors to support online resource development
  • Ensure accessibility, IP compliance, branding, testing, UX and quality standards are met
  • Manage Mentem content catalogue including external libraries e.g. YouTube channel

3.     Assess the extent of stakeholder involvement required

  •  Collaborate with Mentem and UNSW stakeholders to map content against client needs, identified learning journey and formats required.
  • Evaluate existing learning resources and their potential for use or customisation
  • Collaborate with Mentem Teams to assess faculty support required for targeted learning journeys
  • Confirm faculty access arrangements to meet these requirements via Learning Director

4. Develop and maintain processes and build the Mentem content catalogue

  • Report to Mentem colleagues on progress, successes and areas requiring improvements
  • Identify improvements within the Learning Experience Team for implementation as necessary
  • Tag learning resources for ease of reuse
  • Develop processes for online content identification, evaluation and reuse within the Mentem infrastructure
  • Develop and document all processes in order to develop programs at scale
  • Collaborate with the technical, sales and product areas of Mentem and provide advice and recommendations on the practical implementation of learning frameworks and journeys

 

Qualifications

Selection Criteria

  • Proven track record in the design and development of engaging and compelling course content and learning journeys
  • Excellent knowledge of adult learning theories and contemporary instructional design models with demonstrated evidence of their successful application, including in online delivery
  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of educational technologies including web-based learning management systems to facilitate learning
  • Demonstrable success in fostering and managing complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in resolving complex problems as they arise in a client focussed environment
  • University degree in education/instructional or multimedia design/training or equivalent with at least 7 years relevant work experience
