Job Description
We’re looking for the MacGyver of developers, as in, we want someone that will embrace challenges, look at things from different perspectives, and creatively solve problems. Our company welcomes change and sees the constantly changing technology landscape as a way to solve real world problems. We do this by trying new things, then learning and growing from our mistakes.
As a Sr. Developer, you will be managing a team of talented individuals who are eager to learn, and your team will be focusing on a specific aspect of the product. Your typical day would look like:
Mentorship: code reviews, pair programming, 1:1 meetings
Designing Solutions: technical design meetings with product managers and developers
Project management: lead the team, be accountable for the roadmap
Developing: building new features from the ground up, maintaining existing features and performance tuning.
Qualifications
Experience: We care more about work experience rather than formal education. We’re looking for someone who can come in and not only learn, but teach us as well. Below are the experiences we are looking for in a candidate for this role:
Database:
Performance tuning slow queries by diagnosing query plans and statistics
Tuning indexes on tables based on transaction patterns and read queries
Database performance monitoring to proactively address bottlenecks
Designing data models for scalable architectures
Development:
A good understanding of the web and the HTTP protocol
Designing solutions with performance in mind, incorporating a good balance of caching, building efficient LINQ queries, and minimizing database/api calls
Able to dissect existing code and refactoring to scale based on requirements
Research technologies and develop proof of concepts while contributing knowledge to our team
A good understanding of the .NET Framework and ASP.NET web application development
Operations:
Monitor application performance metrics
Automation through PowerShell scripting
Working knowledge of Windows Server, IIS, SQL Server, and networking
Project management:
Knack for providing good estimates and tracking work against them
Working closely with the project manager to timely deliver projects and communicate issues
Establishing, documenting, and implementing processes to improve SDLC
Mentorship:
Conducting regular 1:1 meetings with team members to position them for success in their role and their desired career path
Conducting pair programming sessions with devs to standardize coding styles and elevate programming skills
Engage in code reviews as opportunities to educate junior developers with solution design skills
