Job Description

Ability Action Australia's south west Sydney team are looking for an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner who has current suitability at the Proficient or Advanced level, as confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Successful candidates will be providing supports to cover NDIS participants living in the following areas (depending on where you live) Campbelltown, Prestons, Camden, Liverpool, Ingleburn, Casula & surrounding areas.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning
  • Evaluating, developing and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
  • Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies as per the positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
  • Ensuring individual plans reflect participants' goals, passions and strengths
  • Building the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners

About you

  • Considerable experience working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner for a registered NDIS provider OR have obtained suitability at the Proficient or Advanced level via the self-assessment application pathway with the NDIS Commission.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication, written and verbal, skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Genuine passion for working in the disability sector and mentoring less experienced practitioners.
  • Solution focus, proactive attitude, and motivated by improvement as well as the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas.
  • Looking for a fun, collaborative and supportive work environment.

Qualifications

 

  • Current suitability - confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission - at the Proficient or Advanced level as a Behaviour Support Practitoner 
  • Completion of a degree level qualification in an allied health discipline would be an advantage but is not essential
