Ability Action Australia are looking for Behaviour Support Practitioners of all experience and suitability levels. Whether you are just starting your career or have suitability levels Core, Proficient or Advanced, we want to hear from you!
Successful candidates will be providing supports to NDIS participants across living in the following areas (depending on where you live) Canberra, Queanbeyan, Tuggeranong Gunning, Yass, Gundaroo, Belconnen, Jerrabombera & surrounding areas.

No two days are ever the same! You might find us in childcare centres, schools, aged care facilities, day programs, the community, homes, and/or our clinic space. This is a great opportunity to use your Positive Behaviour Support skills to evaluate, develop and deliver evidence-based support plans within a complex support space. This role will ensure individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' passions and interests and promotes their quality of life. Whilst doing so you will also build the knowledge, capacity and strengths of all those who are important to the participant.

On a daily basis you will be:
- Assisting NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning
- Evaluating, developing and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
- Developing meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, and with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
- Ensuring individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions and strengths
- Building the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners
Qualifications
To be considered suitable you will have:
- Completed a degree level qualification as an allied health professional is desired
- Report writing experience
- Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
- Proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas
- Genuine passion for working in the disability sector
To be successful in this role, you will be solution focused, highly organised and possess exceptional people skills.
