Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is “easiest to do business with”.  We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants.  We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. MPI Payroll Manager

Position Summary 

The Payroll Manager is a fast-paced, high-impact position that plays an important role in executing payroll/accounting initiatives throughout the MPI division. The role will oversee the supervision of multi-site payroll and payroll functions, ensuring pay is process accurately, timely and in compliance with company and government regulations and related account reconciliations and internal financial reporting.  Manage and ensure the accurate and efficient operation of the payroll function and department, including the generation, distribution, and reporting of the biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly, weekly, and special incentive payrolls.   

 

Essential Functions 

  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. 

  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. 

  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. 

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. 

  • Prepare and input payroll related manual journal entries including the monthly intercompany entries for 401(k) & payroll chargebacks. 

  • Assist controllers with reconciliation of the payroll bank account and various payroll related GL accounts, identify and research variances and supply backup for all account balances. 

  • Resolve employee concerns regarding wage payments, taxation, deductions and unique requests & counsel and advise HR and Payroll staff, employees and managers of transactional processing involved with payroll. 

  • Maintain employee payroll records and information to ensure legal and regulatory compliance and to provide beneficial and timely management reporting. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related or related field from accredited college or university. 

  • Minimum five (5) years of payroll experience specifically related to multiple sites/states and multiple payroll runs. 

  • Minimum three (3) years of leading a payroll team. 

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of payroll software experience (ex. UltiPro, Kronos, ADP, Paycor, and/or Workday). 

  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent organizational, project management skills and attention to detail. 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, (advanced knowledge of Excel). 

 

Position Requirements 

  • Sitting for long periods of time.  

  • Minimum of 10% (air/car) travel based on business needs.
