This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. We offer comprehensive solutions through an experienced team of professionals specifically focused on these two special markets. Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is “easiest to do business with”.  We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants.  We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades.

Job Description

Position:

Process Engineer, McWane Plant & Industrial

Location:

Calera, AL

Directly reports to:

Director of Engineering – MPI

Position Purpose:

Collaborate with Inside and Outside Sales to develop and implement optimal product solutions to meet customer applications.

Position Summary:

The Process Engineer will be responsible for collaborating between Product Engineering and Manufacturing to develop and implement standard procedure and processes, specifically related to product assembly and testing. This individual will be expected to execute lean or Kaizen activities to identify material flow and manufacturability efficiencies throughout the plant, while having the opportunity to design, build and validate equipment and tools to support their efforts. This engineer will work closely with the lead Manufacturing Engineer and Plant Superintendent in Calera, AL with regular interaction with the engineering team in Birmingham.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop/Improve engineering procedures for product assembly and testing.
  • Support manufacturing in developing operating procedures and work instructions
  • Perform time studies & manufacturing data reporting for material flow and overall process effectiveness
  • Design, build and validate equipment to aide in assembly and testing of products
  • Identify time or cost-savings opportunities and present justifications to management

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in mechanical engineering.
  • Project management experience and project management software skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple projects with attention to detail. Excellent time management skills.
  • Detail oriented, adept at reading documents and engineering drawings and specifications.  
  • Valid driver’s license with no major violations.     
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 
  • Mechanical aptitude or engineering background.
  • Must be a team player
