M&H Valve in Anniston, AL is in search of a Assembly/Supervisor to join our Machine Shop team!

The Assembly Supervisor provides excellent leadership for self, team, and facility. Supervises day to day operations of RSGV Assembly and Powder Coat, including assembly and hydrant planning/scheduling. Responsible for overall safety and environmental compliance, efficiency, and profitability of the areas of responsibility. Collaboratively works with other supervisor, managers, and departments to ensure delivery of quality products with superior service levels.

Job Description

DEPARTMENT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Develop and maintain a team built on excellence using the McWane Way Core Values.
  • 1st Responsibility – Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members.
  • Establish team member work schedules based on production and project needs.
  • Schedules assembly and powder coat operations to meet production goals.
  • Responsible to ensure production packets are planned, released, and printed to the required department.
  • Responsible for performing cycle counts and submitting changes to ensure inventory is accurate in all warehouses.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in work conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves and/or assists workers with work problems to ensure quality and quantity standards are met.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
  • Responsible for ordering and confirming all purchased items from vendors to product line of responsibility.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Responsible for coordinating with Quality Control on processing returned materials for area of responsibility
  • Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain established stocking plan requirements on finished and rough parts for assigned product line. Makes suggestions when needed on raising or lowering requirements.
  • Responsible for all safety requirements within RSGV/Powder coat, individual safety briefings, monthly safety meetings, inspections, lockout/tagout, lockout/tagout annual reviews and below the hook lifting devices.

SUPERVISORY (Leadership) RESPONSIBILITIES ~ Directly supervises 15-30 team members

  • Builds a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and teamwork within the department.
  • Demonstrates an ability to inspire, motivate, and influence teams, while creating a sense of urgency
  • Coaches and provides clear, candid, and constructive feedback. Issues disciplines when needed.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.
  • Advocate for employee development and advancement.
  • Proactively addresses employees’ potential issues (works to quickly resolve any complaints or concerns) and adequately responds to suggestions and questions.
  • Creates and supports activities designed to enhance employee morale.
  • Interprets company policies for the team.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Sound decision making and strong organizational skills with attention to detail, .
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and delegation skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Competency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Critical-thinking skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
