Job Description

 

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in foundry operations by performing the following duties.   McWane is a Federal VEVRAA contractor and an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing equal employment opportunity in all employment practices. QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Post high school education and related work experience are significant background qualifications for a candidate seeking this position. The Company is especially interested in candidates who have a degree from a four (4) year college or university.  Another significant qualification is previous work experience as a foundry supervisor.  The minimum qualifications for this position is a high school diploma with a strong preference for candidates with two (2) years of post high school education and two (2) years of related work experience.   LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees in the organization.   MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.   REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but is not limited to the following:   Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.   Interprets company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations.   Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.   Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.   Makes changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work crew.   Analyzes and resolves process problems, or assists employees in solving process problems.   Maintains time and production records.   Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.   Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.   Sets up machines and equipment.   Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.   Fully responsible for overall financial performance of their department.   Supports foundry projects through staff management.   Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.   Holds self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost effective results.  Determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work.   Behaves in an honest, fair, and ethical manner.  Shows consistency in words and actions.  Models high standards of ethics.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises employees in the Foundry Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, cross training, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
