Job Description
This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide best-in-class foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. It’s our goal to always provide an engaging, relevant, and simple experience for our customers.
The Cloud Platform Engineer III is part of the Cloud Ecosystem team in Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations. The role reports to the Senior Manager of Cloud SRE and is responsible for enabling SRE principles in Cloud Operations. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting the definition, vision, design, road map and development of product features from beginning to end. You will support the Digital, Data, Engineering, and Restaurant development teams by delivering a scalable, resilient, and secure Cloud DevOps Pipeline and supporting tooling.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Automate the provisioning of cloud resources
- Propose and implement process improvements to move team to IaaS principles
- Research, analyze, design, develop and support high-quality automation workflows in the cloud platform that are appropriate for business and technology strategies.
- While embedding with teams, strategize, consult, and prototype alongside other engineers to implement standard methodologies and solutions for applications applying CI/CD and the cloud.
- Drive proof of concepts and conduct technical feasibility studies for business requirements.
- Remain up-to-date on emerging technologies and architecture and propose ways to use them in current and upcoming projects.
- Strive to provide internal and external customers with excellent customer service and premier service.
- Effectively communicate project health, risks and issues to the program stakeholders, sponsors and management teams.
- Resolve most conflicts between timeline, budget, and scope independently but intuitively escalate sophisticated or consequential issues to senior management.
- Identify and direct changes through appropriate review and approval mechanisms.
- Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
- Work well in an agile environment
- Build, implement, and support tools that improve customer experience.

The expected salary range for this role is $$129,800- $165,490 per year
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Cloud development and support experience such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years relevant experience and a Master’s degree.
- Demonstrated ability to provide architectural design, leadership, management, and mentoring to team members.
- Experience developing design specifications, test plans, and protocols.
- Experience working in cross functional team and managing external vendors
- Associate AWS certifications (e.g. Developer, Solution Architect, or SysOps Administrator Associate).
- Good knowledge of IaaS and PaaS offerings in AWS and Azure
- Good knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code and associated technologies (e.g. repos, pipelines, Terraform, etc.).
- Strong desire to automate everything you touch.
- Must be diligent to details, organized, self-motivated, and driven.
- Ability to create system and process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, sequence and UML diagrams, inter and intra system dependencies within the functional domain and across them
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
- Defines and promotes best practices; cultivates a culture of innovation and learning, including willingness to instruct and coach in a cloud training program as needed.
- Demonstrated strong analytic and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Willingness and ability to live the McDonald’s values every day: Serve, Inclusion, Integrity, Community, and Family.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in multiple programming languages like Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, Ruby on rails etc. along with NoSQL, SQL technologies
- Experience working with data and promoting a data-driven mindset
- Intermediate Azure certifications (e.g. AZ-100, AZ-104, AZ-500, etc.)
- Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needs.
