Job Description
This is a new role within the Segment technology team. Reporting into the Senior Director, Segment Technology for IDL ASIA, this role is responsible for leading the technology related engagement and technology program execution for McDonald’s China.
The person in this role will work with cross functional teams within the China BU and other subject matter experts in Global technology team to establish strategic alignment and develop a technology adoption plan for McDonald’s China taking into account this markets scale and accelerated restaurant growth aspirations.
This person needs to have a passion for technology solutions and the ability to influence senior leaders within the organisation to gain commitment and drive results. This will be achieved by gaining stakeholder trust and commitment on multi-year investments backed by compelling business cases.
The role requires a highly self-motivated individual, who is able to solve problems and align various stakeholders behind a vision to adopt the agreed Technology Solutions at pace.
Duties and Job Responsibilities
1. Market, Segment and Global Technology Alignment
- Act as the primary relationship partner to McDonald's China for global technology solutions, practices, technology standards and platforms.
- Align market needs, plans and commitments with solution deployment capacity offered through approved suppliers and partners
- In partnership with VMO and legal teams, facilitate commercial agreements between the markets and third party suppliers and serve as an escalation point for the market
- Partner with the market team on a multi-year technology roadmap to support business goals
- Manage expectations of Executive Leadership and market stakeholders regarding availability and capabilities of global technology solution platforms
- Review and influence organizational needs at the market and global technology level on a regular basis including succession plans, missing capabilities, etc.
2. Technology planning and adoption
- Drive adoption of global technology standards and solutions into the China market
- Lead the annual planning exercise in collaboration with global technology team and market CIO and planning lead
- Track deployment efforts, understanding any challenges and proactively manage risks to the technology deployment program.
- Adjust commitments as needed and seek alignment with leadership
- Track progress of the market in adopting various global solutions including core restaurant solutions, hardware, operating systems, etc. Provide necessary support for the adoption of local solutions
3. Communication
- On a regular basis, share global technology solution portfolio and technology standards based on new offerings and best fit with market business plans
- Implement and manage the regular Executive Leadership communication process
- Work proactivity and share the latest information to the market team on a regular basis and facilitate their attendance to global events such as CIO meetings, GTRM summit etc.
- Provide communications around the annual planning process, technology pricing guide, and latest technology standards
4. Governance
- Guide governance processes with various organizations regarding technology decisions, adjustments and technology risk management
- Oversee the agreed ways of working governance process to drive key leadership decisions on the technology adoption roadmap
- Support China on Supplier management of 3rd party technology companies including governance and regular supplier reviews
- Manage the specific legal governance requirements
- Contribute to the market quarterly business reviews and DL business reviews
- Support global internal audit as required

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. MBA is a plus.
- 10+ years’ experience in similar roles.
- General understanding of restaurant operations and consumer experiences
- Good understanding of and experience in product development and deployment processes for technology solutions
- The role will be based in Asia
- Mandarin speaking skills as a preference
