Job Description
The US Sustainable Sourcing Manager will play a strategic role in our continued efforts to embed and strengthen sustainability strategies across several of McDonald’s US’s key categories.
- Lead progress within supply chain sustainability strategies, including achieving our climate action and regenerative agriculture goals.
- Lead U.S. coffee sustainability work; manage McCafé Sustainability Improvement Platform (SIP)
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with suppliers, industry, NGOs, government, and foundations, and develop and maintain relationships with key partners.
- Influence and engage leading industry and multi-stakeholder organizations. Represent the company at workshops, meetings, and speaking events.
- Conduct research, analysis, and engage stakeholders as needed to advance data-driven strategies to reach goals.
- Manage sustainable supply emerging issues.
- Collaborate with global sustainability teammates to align global and US strategies
- Collaborating cross functionally with strategic sourcing, quality systems, public affairs, government relations, communications, and marketing.
- Domestic and some international travel required, ~20-30%.
Qualifications
- Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum of 5+ years of post-college experience working in decentralized organizations, leading change management campaigns, and general sustainability programs. Knowledge of industry trends and practices.
- BA/BS required. Master’s degree preferred. Desired specialties include business administration, supply chain management, sustainability, animal science, veterinary medicine, agricultural science, soil health, climate science and accounting, ESG analytics & reporting.
Preferred:
- Experience working US beef, chicken, dairy, pork, corn and/or soy industries.
- Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting experience strongly preferred, especially project/intervention accounting within Scope 3 emissions
- Knowledge of principles and practices of regenerative agriculture.
- Experience in smallholder agriculture in developing economies.
- Experience in agricultural policy.
