Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, the Strategic Communications Manager will strengthen McDonald’s Canada’s reputation from the inside out by creating strategic, compelling communications that bring to life how we’ll elevate the brand. In particular, the person in this position will work diligently to strengthen communications from the company to all internal audiences and engage them in the business and the McDonald’s brand. Key audiences include Owner/Operators, Restaurant Managers, Crew and Corporate Staff.
**This position is a Flex Hybrid Model, requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Strategic communications plan development for priority initiatives that drive awareness and pride across the McDonald’s Canada system.
- Partner with other members of the Corporate Relations team to ensure plans are integrated across functions and aligned for the greatest possible impact.
- Support key functional departments and internal teams with plan and message development and ongoing communications support.
- Innovate and imagine new, leading edge ways to engage stakeholders in telling the McDonald’s Canada story.
- Sequence messaging across all internal communication vehicles to engage the system in the business.
- Work with agency partners to ensure projects are executed on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years communications experience with a focus on internal/leadership/strategic communications
- Superior written and verbal communication skills combined with an in-depth understanding of internal communications principles and practices
- Counseling senior staff from a communications perspective
- Working knowledge of a large corporate environment
- Knowledge of the McDonald's system would be an asset
- A degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations and/or Journalism
- Bilingualism would be an asset
- Excellent writer, particularly key message development, script/speech writing, presentation support, online media
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Well-organized, demonstrated project management skills; able to set and work to tight deadlines
- Enjoys a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
- Comfortable supporting and counseling senior staff
- Able to work independently with little supervision
- Able to manage communications agency support
- Expected to work well with various teams
- Embraces change and is motivated by challenges
