Job Description

Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. RMHC strives to be part of the solution to issues challenging families today. Families are challenged with how to stay near and support a hospitalized child; how to afford staying together in another city while a child is undergoing treatment; or even getting basic medical and dental care in underserved communities. We use our resources and partnerships in the community to help families gain access to healthcare services and keep families together during critical points in their children's lives.

Position Purpose:

The Marketing and Development team is responsible for the development and execution of the organization’s global marketing and fundraising strategies. Within that area of responsibility, the team is responsible for an average annual Global revenue of $80 million. Revenue and in-kind donations are secured through an array of tactics including: major gift acquisition and stewardship; individual donor campaigns; planned gift solicitation; foundation grants; corporate and supplier partnerships; McDonald’s facilitated fundraising activities and cause related marketing campaigns.

This group also oversees the compliance, consistency, positioning and communication across the entire RMHC Chapter system in 62 countries and regions! We create the brand strategy and guidelines while serving as a brand consultant for the individual Chapters. In addition, we execute Global tactics that support and increase awareness for the brand and the RMHC mission. Global tactics include: planning, development and implementation across paid, owned and earned media; digital and social media content and campaign creation; public relations; crisis communication; print advertising; content management across the rmhc.org website; and corporate marketing activation. We also manage the interface between RMHC and the McDonald’s Global/U.S. marketing and communications relationships to ensure continuity and promote co-brand building.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Marketing & Communications Intern to support our public relations, social media, branding, creative content and paid media efforts to build awareness and drive support for RMHC. Key areas of focus will include:

  • Day-to-day social media monitoring support, engagement and gathering of local Chapter social content for amplification across RMHC global social channels
  • Assist with national proactive and reactive media opportunities as needed
  • Provide support to amplify corporate partner activations and partnerships to external audiences
  • Aggregate RMHC family stories from around the system for use in external communications channels
  • Assist with always-on paid media activation and measurement to evaluate paid effort
  • Contribute to celebrity and micro-Influencer engagement efforts
  • Collaboration with Creative Content and Brand team to support material reviews and development of resources for local Chapters

Qualifications

  • You’re a Junior working towards your Bachelor’s degree with a graduation date in Fall 2022 or Spring 2023
  • Preferred majors include: Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations
  • Have a college GPA of at least 3.0
  • Can work Monday-Friday during all 10 weeks (6/6-8/12) of the internship
  • You’re committed to a culture of inclusiveness
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Energy and passion for the RMHC mission
  • Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
