Job Description

What is the purpose of this role?

As a primary financial business partner of the organisation, the Assistant Accountant applies financial expertise to improve decision-making, support financial management and business growth for key stakeholders and the broader business.

What will my key accountabilities be?

  • Partnering with key stakeholders to provide subject matter expertise, advice and support in relation to the relevant financial matters.
  • Providing timely, accurate and reliable management reporting and analysis that adds value to the organisation and supports the needs and goals of the organisation. Specifically, the Assistant Accountant, is responsible for providing the following:
    • Month /Quarter / Year End Reporting:
      • G&A Recaps;
      • Trial balance Comments;
      • Actual Sales;
      • Month-end Profit & Loss (P&L) Statement
      • Global reporting submissions
    • Quarter End Reporting:
      • Franchise Margin
    • Budgeting (Build and Analysis)
    • Projection (Build and Analysis)
    • Daily Cash flow and Treasury Management
  • Management of specific balance sheet accounts (i.e. Prepaid Account) to mitigate potential risk for the organisation
  • Identifying and acting on opportunities for process improvement within the Finance Department and externally. Identifying needs and developing tools, templates and resources to assist the department with financial management.
  • Understands and is accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) compliance requirements.
  • Has a proficiency in information systems and will be involved in change management for Finance Transformation in this area.
  • Accurately and diligently attends to general accounting work and ad hoc financial work required to achieve the above.
