Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic Communications Manager, Multicultural PR & Engagement to help create and manage the perceptions of one of the most recognized brands in the world. Reporting to a Director, this role will develop and lead communications strategies for critical multicultural audience segments (Asian American, Black and Hispanic) in food and menu news, brand activations and campaigns, critical business drivers and other customer engagement programs. This manager will also manage two supervisors and dedicatedly counsel business partners on and craft & develop communications programs that effectively reach and engage defined audiences (e.g., media, consumers, influencers, third party organizations, etc.) with McD's brand engagement efforts, drive awareness & sales, and enhance & improve overall brand image and advocacy.

In this role you will:

Align communications and PR strategy with (1) supported U.S. Business departments such as Marketing, Digital/Social, Menu Innovation and within McDonald's Corporate Reputation Team, and (2) other Communication departmental areas (e.g., media relations, internal/system, field communications, public affairs, and government relations) as well as key franchisee partners.

Develop and maintain relationships with key partners across the U.S. Business, especially with those departments and individuals that the Communications team partners with including Owner/Operators, field & national marketing and communications and national and local PR agencies.

Develop and manage all resources to support and guide the ownership communications & PR programs (e.g., budget, agency support, team support, etc.).

Manages national PR agencies as part of integrated agency team model process in the development of leadership communications strategy & PR programs to support ownership areas.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in Public Relations, Integrated Marketing or Digital/Social, including multicultural communications

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Communications, Public Relations, Digital/Social, Marketing or other related field
  • Bi-lingual abilities
  • Results-oriented with experience leading teams
  • Strong networking, relationship-building and interpersonal skills are imperative
  • Experience partnering with and influencing others outside direct line of control, management
  • High level of strategic focus, planning, perspective
  • Excellent writing, design and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail, self-starter and great teammate
  • Creative problem solver with strong strategic approach; solid experience in concept to execution of new insights
  • You should enjoy working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, deadline-focused, ambiguous yet dynamic environment with constant change
  • Demonstrated knowledge and success with traditional print and broadcast media, as well as online media; good relationships with media
  • Experience utilizing social media, digital channels to engage audiences with brand, organization content
  • Experience managing public relations agencies, account/business management
  • Experience and expertise in multicultural public relations, media relations and engagement
  • Familiarity with traditional and social media monitoring tools and related metrics reporting
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
