Job Description

General

This is a field rotational position two weeks ON/ two weeks OFF. The job holder is responsible for all aspects of organization and operations on Mazarine Energy field including, but to not limited to Health Safety and Environment (HSE), planning, coordination and control of production processes, integrity management, management of staff and contractors, enforcement of company procedures, etc.

He carries first line responsibility on site for managing and directing all production activities. The incumbent will coordinate the production of crude oil and associated gas, ensures wells, pipelines, vessels and machines are continuously maintained and running smoothly, and manages workers (including contractors) that work on the Mazarine production facilities.

He works closely with supervisors and maintenance staff to plan work, set targets and make sure the final products meet export standards.

The Field Manager (FM) reports to the Production and project Manager (based in Tunis). FM is required to:

  • provide effective technical support to the management.
  • monitoring, reporting and improvement of well performance, facility performance and field performance,
  • promote safety on site and
  • ensure appropriate working conditions.

In addition, he/she is expected to consistently and efficiently achieve the Companies production targets.

 

Main Duties

The holder of this position is the company representative on site and must maintain good relations with local authorities, communities, contractors, companies, etc.

  • He should work with the Production, Technical and HSE manager to implement the company's policies and objectives
  • Ensure, with the HSE advisor, that company HSE guidelines, procedures and standards are strictly followed and act as a visible and felt HSE leader
  • Play a critical role in emergency response procedures
  • Supervise and motivate a team of workers
  • Oversee all production processes, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are met.
  • Identify, select and order required spare parts, tools, chemicals and any material or services required for smooth operations
  • Assist in organizing and planning any routine maintenance and repair of production equipment
  • Liaise with buyers, marketing and sales staff if required
  • Contribute to training and coaching of junior staff
  • Conduct meetings with all field personnel to ensure work is properly delegated and deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with the HSE advisor to resolve safety problems that arise and ensures that required paperwork is completed
  • Assist in resolving production issues as required.
  • Work closely with the management in the planning and communication of daily plant activities and production.
  • Manage the status of work control and backlog starting from work order submission to work order completion.
  • Develop production improvement proposals (with the Production Technologists) to achieve targeted improvements.
  • Executes well intervention operations as needed, including well testing, Coil Tubing, wire line, slick line, stimulations and optimization using sound engineering practices and problem-solving skills.
  • Responsible for Hydrocarbon accounting and the accurate reporting of production and well data into the Mazarine reporting systems as required.
  • Ensure material balance of field products is met (well production figures versus Oil trucked and gas sold) and explain any abnormal discrepancy.
  • Conduct production programming tasks and develop weekly production activity schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to oil and gas transportation, treatment and sales contracts.
  • Provide support to other Mazarine operations where needed (Drilling, Construction, etc).
  • Participate in recruitment of the permanent onsite team.

Qualifications

  • Technical engineering degree in one of the following disciplines (Petroleum, Technology, Mechanics, Electro-mechanics, Electricity, Energy, chemical or high Poly-technical schools)   
  • A proven track record of outstanding safety management
  • Previous production operations experience within the oil and gas industry
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a comparable position
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in oil and gas industry.  
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas standards, codes of practice and regulations/legislation
  • Previous experience in leading operational teams
  • Knowledge of safety legislation and regulations 
  • Ability to prioritize duties and ensure that goals remain on schedule.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure 
  • Ability to provide solutions to complex problems in the field
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Package.
  • Able to communicate both in Arab and English languages
