Job Description

As Civil Engineer you will provide on-site supervision and inspection for all civil construction phases, including coordinating contractors & subcontractors, materials, products and equipment and ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed.

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for inspections, quality control, and job site safety for all related Civil Works activities on site including excavation, lowering, earthworks, steel structure erection, concrete pouring, etc. You will ensure all operations and engineering plans are prepared in compliance with corporate HSSE policies and procedures.

This role will be performed at Mazarine's field locations as well as in the office in Tunis.

Responsibilities & tasks

Will include but are not limited to:

Field:

  • Supervision and inspection of all Civil Works activities;
  • Stake and survey locations assisted by Survey Service Company;
  • Ensure accuracy and QC of work performance of civil work all contractors and their sub-contractors;
  • Assist on site reinstatement and clean ups;
  • Supervise water well drilling during drilling campaign;
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed;
  • Ensure that contractor & subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work;
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions;
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to production/project/drilling team for resolution;
  • Ensure contractor & subcontractor have corrected all deficiencies identified;
  • Ensure that the job site is always kept clean and organized;
  • Generate daily reports related to main activities;
  • Issue daily report for the activities performed by the contractor & subcontractor;
  • Ensure that all the materials used are in accordance with the company specifications and that certificates of material and calibration are available;
  • Ensure the supervision and confirmation of all field tests (geotechnical, etc)
  • Ensure that all the works performed on site are in accordance with the drawings, layouts and engineering documents.
  • Ensure the verification and signature of all field tickets including personnel and equipment timesheets in addition to the consumed products’ quantities.

Office:

  • Coordinate the engineering of construction drawings to be prepared by third party;
  • Support production / project / drilling teams in design and engineering of Civil Works operations;
  • Be involved in tendering process for selection of Civil Works contractors (prepare scope of work, perform technical evaluations of offers, etc)

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Previous construction experience within the oil and gas industry; 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a comparable role; 
  • Working knowledge of construction and civil standards, codes of practice and regulations/legislation;
  • Knowledge of safety legislation and regulations; 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Package;
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD;  
  • Ability to perform well under pressure; 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, can do attitude and pro-active worker; 
  • Good presentation skills.
