Job Description

  • Conduct Purchasing for company needs.
  • Contact and work with Suppliers including negotiations of pricing. This includes yearly review and cost out planning. 
  • Review MRP Purchasing reports to plan and order items and assure material availability
  • Review Shortage, Expedite, and Inventory Excess reports for Purchase Orders
  • Communicate with planning, customer service and manufacturing about any delays or order problems
  • Schedule delivery of materials, supplies, equipment, and services according to requirements of the company's operations
  • Maintenance of Finish Good inventory levels required to meet customer needs, while avoiding excess carrying costs.
  • Check and follow up with departments for raw material shortages
  • Develop an inventory reduction effort to reduce obsolete materials
  • Communicate with Inventory clerks about current stock and potential issues
  •  
  • Aid in ensuring lot and serial tracking of materials in the manufacturing process
  • Aid in ensuring adherence to requirements of Quality System requirements for manufacturing; e.g. inspection, traceability, control, segregation, identity, etc.
  • Aid in ensuring adherence to policies/procedures for manufacturing, including identification of material and job status, and accurate reporting of lot-tracking information
  • Perform necessary functions to reconcile inventory for month end close

Qualifications

  • 5+ yrs experience in purchasing and procurement
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field  
  • Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain systems, LEAN principles of planning and MRP/ERP systems often required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proof-reading and editing ability
  • Effective interpersonal skills to negotiate with vendors and interact with peers and management
