Job Description
Provide personalized support to each student.
Meet each student one-on-one (1-1) once a week to set, monitor, and evaluate academic and social and emotional progress on goals (ex: mentoring, reflection, feedback, goal setting).
Collect, analyze, and reflect on student data; adjust and advise instructions accordingly.(Map test, Reports and any other assessments).
Work with school administration to prepare students for standardized assessments and assist in their administration if necessary
Take daily attendance of students and communicate excessive absences with school administration
Communicate consistently and frequently with the School Leader and/or direct supervisors, students, and parents about students’ goals and progress;
Accept feedback and address any questions or concerns directly and indirectly, positively, and in a timely manner.
Develop, create and encourage positive mindsets for students around goal-setting, academic work and collaborative projects
Set clear expectations and monitor student behavior, as well as respond appropriately and consistently to misbehavior, seeking assistance when needed.
Model and foster a culture of respect and learning for students and all staff members.
Use the provided curriculum and/or competencies (KG ALPRO) as a springboard to plan and prepare meaningful, interest-based, real-world learning opportunities for students
Encourage self-reflection on competencies in projects (ex: cognitive skills and character strengths, global citizenship, creation, purpose, and deeper learning competencies).
Routinely assess students’ academic and social-emotional learning based on set objectives.
Offer co-curricular clubs on a weekly basis.
Communicate, consult and cooperate with other members of the school staff, including those having posts of special responsibility and parents/guardians to ensure the best interest of students.
Use the resources of the city and community to create an education that is culturally and personally relevant.
Submit all required reports, plans other learning documents on time, editing work when needed
Organize, participate and prepare resources, field trips, and guest speakers connected to the students’ learning.
Participate in parent-teacher meetings and communication.
Participate in In-Service education and training courses as well as in continue professional development (CPD) opportunities, and take part in action research exercises and PLCs (Professional Learning Communities)
Participate in staff, group or other meetings related to the school for the better organization and administration of the school.
Participate in student led conferences 3 times per year
Document learning moments and share with other team members as well as parents.
Conduct home group morning meeting and home group reflection time.
Cooperate with administration staff.
Maintain an open line of communication with parents and provide appropriate information (ranging from weekly pointers and newsletters in primary to daily learning moment observations in KG) via LMS in Primary.
Undertake special assignments, ad-hoc functions and related duties as and when required.
Ensure the safe custody and optimum use of equipment and resources and report any maintenance needs to the administrative staff
Organize and take part in school events, outings and activities.
Substitute for other teachers’ classes during their leave of absence when needed and maintain up-to-date substitution plans for own students in the case of absence
Uphold the School’s core values, modeling the highest in ethical standards for students and peers
Carefully read the School’s staff handbook in order to adhere to its precepts and the parent handbook, in order to maintain a consistency of approach with the parent community
Qualifications
- At least 2 years teaching or co-teaching experience, preferably in a progressive learning environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (required for all positions, except Arabic staff, whereby good English comprehension skills are required)
- Have a multicultural experience and background.
- A strong communicator who is able to persuade others with her own ideas and listen empathically to others.
- A balanced person who seeks own and other's development of the mind, body and soul.
