About the role
Our Public Liability team supports people who have been injured in public places or because
of faulty products due to the negligence of others, helping them understand their rights and
pursue the compensation they may be entitled to.
We're seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Public Liability practice on a
permanent full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to support a passionate team of
lawyers who advocate for clients through what can often be one of the most challenging times
in their lives.
As an experienced Legal Assistant, you will provide high-quality administrative and legal
support to one of our Principal Lawyers and play an important role in ensuring our clients
receive a seamless, compassionate and professional experience.
You will play a key role in keeping matters progressing smoothly and ensuring clients feel
supported and informed throughout their claim.

Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality administrative and legal support to Principal Lawyer within the
Public and Product Liability team.
• Deliver exceptional client service and stakeholder support.
• Maintain strong client, referrer, and external relationships.
• Prepare correspondence, briefs, legal documents, court materials, and other matter-related documentation.
• Assist with preparing matters for settlement conferences, mediations and court
proceedings.
• Manage diaries, appointments, critical dates and court timetables.
• Coordinate Medico-Legal appointments and assist with obtaining medical,
employment and other evidentiary records.
• Organise and manage medical, liability and quantum documentation.
• Process correspondence, billing and other matter-related administration.
• Manage electronic and hard copy files accurately.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working within the team.
• Mentor, train, and support team members.
• Identify, escalate, and help resolve issues proactively.
• Maintain compliance, confidentiality, and professional standards.
About You
We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and is able to work autonomously.
You'll bring:
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to confidently
manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients,
colleagues and external stakeholders.
• A client-focused approach, with the empathy, sensitivity and professionalism required
when supporting clients and families experiencing significant health challenges.
• Strong attention to detail and confidence managing complex documentation and client
files.
• The ability to work with a degree of autonomy while contributing positively to a
collaborative team environment.
• A trustworthy and professional approach to handling confidential and sensitive client
information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and confidence using legal practice management
systems and technology.
• An interest in legal technology and AI tools, with enthusiasm for using technology to
work effectively and improve the client experience.
• A proactive mindset and willingness to identify better and more efficient ways of
working.
• A genuine commitment to access to justice and delivering outstanding client service.
