About the role and team

We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join our Medical Negligence team based in our Brisbane office on either a 4-day per week or full-time, permanent basis.

Our Medical Negligence team are recognised leaders in the field, acting in high profile, catastrophic, complex and sensitive matters. The team has successfully represented hundreds of patients and their families across all areas of medical negligence, including coronial inquests.

Working closely with a team of experienced lawyers, you will play an integral role in supporting the day-to-day management of files, delivering exceptional client service and helping achieve positive outcomes for our clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant looking to further develop their career in a highly regarded practice.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality administrative and legal support to the Medical Negligence team
  • Managing client communication and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Preparing legal correspondence, court documents, briefs and hearing materials
  • Coordinating medical records, expert reports and other file documentation
  • Managing file administration, including electronic and hard copy filing, opening and closing files, and diary management
  • Liaising with barristers, medical experts, courts and other external stakeholders
  • Assisting lawyers with court and coronial inquest preparation where required

These responsibilities reflect the Legal Assistant role, including client relationship management, court preparation, practice management and document management.

The experience we are looking for:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or general administration 
  • Experience in litigation or personal injury will be highly regarded, although not essential
  • Outstanding organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A compassionate and client-focused approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong digital literacy
