Company Description

We welcome fearless thinkers

For over 100 years, Maurice Blackburn has stood up for those who need us most. With courage and compassion, we extend access to justice to countless Australians. We look beyond the immediate challenge to support people in moments that matter across their lives, and continually push for better solutions for our clients. We invest in and empower our people to stand up for what we believe in and go fearlessly forward together.

We work on real cases, achieving important and positive results in real people’s lives, which is why we are one of Australia’s most respected law firms. Maurice Blackburn, experience you can count on.

The opportunity

Our Personal Law team are excited to be rolling out a multi-year, multi-stream Learning & Development program and we need an experienced, creative, and commercially minded L&D partner to lead it from the ground up.

Reporting to the GM of P&C – Legal, this role is the L&D enabler of our Personal Law division. This isn't a role where you administer someone else's plan. You'll own the sequencing, the providers, the budget and the outcomes, working shoulder to shoulder with senior legal leaders and People & Culture to turn a bold strategic vision into real capability uplift, felt by everyone in the practice.

This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

Why you'll love this role

  • A blank canvas with real backing, a genuine multi-year investment, not a one-off program.
  • Influence and partner directly with the team.
  • Variety, not repetition, from Digital & AI Literacy to Leadership Fundamentals to Managing Client Vulnerability.
  • Modern tools at your fingertips, Clio Operate (formerly ShareDo), Harvey, Copilot, LinkedIn Learning and Claude/ChatGPT are already in play; you decide how they connect.
  • A pivotal role inside a major transformation, your delivery is sequenced against the milestones of the Personal Law Strategic Program itself.

What you'll be doing

  • Driving end-to-end delivery of all seven Personal Law capability streams, design, sequencing and rollout, in partnership with leaders.
  • Owning and matching learning to role, seniority and client responsibility.
  • Choosing the right delivery model for the right capability.
  • Managing external provider relationships, scoping, contracting input and performance.
  • Owning budget tracking and reporting across training spend, conferences and internal resourcing.
  • Embedding the culture-shift agenda, recognition, psychological safety, wellbeing and peer-led learning, into existing initiatives.
  • Tracking adoption, completion, quality and engagement metrics to inform what we invest in next.

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience in L&D, capability or organisational development in a professional services, legal or other complex, multi-tiered environment.
  • A track record designing and running a multi-stream capability framework end-to-end.
  • Confidence managing external L&D/OD providers and holding them to delivery and quality commitments.
  • Sound judgement across blended delivery models.
  • Comfort presenting budget, adoption and outcome data to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience sequencing learning around a broader change or transformation program, with an instinct for change fatigue and timing.
  • Stellar stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, you build trust at all levels.
  • Exposure to learning systems and reporting tools.
