Job Description

The Receiving & Warehouse Lead oversees daily inbound receiving and warehouse operations in a B2B distribution environment. The role ensures strict safety compliance, accurate inventory receiving and storage, proper stack building, and efficient utilization of clamp-truck labor, while coordinating the safe unloading of containers, inventory verification, putaway, consolidation, re-warehousing, and Hot Zone replenishment.

The Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of more than 10 Clamp Truck Operators (CTOs), Warehouse Auditors, Checkers, and supporting associates, ensuring inventory is accurately received, posted, located, and maintained in the warehouse management system.

  • Lead daily receiving dock and warehouse operations, coordinating inbound container unloading, receiving priorities, putaway, storage, consolidation, re-warehousing, and replenishment activities.
  • Enforce all applicable OSHA requirements and site-specific safety standards, including PPE, trailer restraints, dock plates, equipment safety, pedestrian separation, and safe material-handling practices.
  • Conduct pre-shift safety and equipment checks and maintain safe, organized receiving docks, staging lanes, warehouse aisles, and emergency access routes.
  • Oversee the safe unloading of inbound trailers and containers and ensure product stacks meet established stacking, tie-pattern, stability, alignment, clamp-pressure, and product-handling standards.
  • Coordinate and lead the daily activities of 10+ Clamp Truck Operators (CTOs), Warehouse Auditors, Checkers, and supporting associates, assigning work according to operational priorities.
  • Assign and balance CTO labor across receiving, putaway, consolidation, re-warehousing, storage, and Hot Zone replenishment to support timely dock clearance and efficient warehouse utilization.
  • Verify inbound inventory against receiving documentation for SKU, dash code, quantity, carton count, product condition, and other required information before inventory is released for putaway.
  • Ensure inventory is accurately received, checked, posted, moved, and assigned to the appropriate warehouse locations within the warehouse management system.
  • Identify and escalate shortages, overages, damages, water damage, and inventory discrepancies, ensuring affected inventory is properly identified, segregated, controlled, and communicated to Inventory Control.
  • Coordinate inventory placement based on SKU, dash code, stack dimensions, location capacity, storage requirements, and product accessibility, while maintaining safe and stable storage conditions.
  • Oversee inventory consolidation and re-warehousing activities to maximize warehouse space, improve material flow, and maintain accurate inventory locations and system records.
  • Coordinate Hot Zone replenishment and other inventory movements to maintain product availability and support uninterrupted outbound shipping operations.
  • Monitor CTO productivity and labor utilization, including stacks moved, putaway completion, travel time, downtime, receiving lane clearance, and equipment availability; identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.
  • Partner with Receiving, Shipping, Inventory Control, Warehouse Auditors, Checkers, and other operational teams to resolve inventory discrepancies, support cycle counts and audits, and maintain accurate physical and system inventory.
  • Lead shift start-up meetings, provide training, coaching, and performance feedback, track receiving, inventory, productivity, damage, replenishment, and safety KPIs, and provide clear end-of-shift reporting and shift handoffs on completed work, remaining workload, roadblocks, and required follow-up.

Qualifications
